I stumbled upon this place while I was exploring MBS. It seemed relatively new yet it was swarming with people. Au Chocolat had three shops. The first consisted of a gift shop which sold plenty of cute souvenirs, sweets, chocolates and gelato ice cream! Friendly staff were seen to be outside the stores welcoming customers in which made them feel very welcome.The second shop consisted of a mini bakery which had macaroons, cupcakes and slices of cake. The second shop consisted of a mini bakery which had macaroons, cupcakes and slices of cake. It all looked soooo good and I was spoilt for choice having to pick 4 pastries out! The friendly staff explained to me the flavors that some of them had which helped me to decide.
The third shop was practically a diner where customers could order food, drinks and desserts. The ambience had a "paris feel" to it and the costumes of the waiters were just so adorable! They even wore tall hats
I decided to get 2 chocolate macaroons (which were huge!) & 2pcs of the lemon meringue's. All the 4 items were of a very decent size; bigger then the usual kind. However, the prices were very steep and costs about $7 each. The macaroons consisted of a hard moisted shell with yummy chocolate filling which was rich yet not overwhelming. I had got one chocolate milk flavored one and the other was a white chocolate macaroon Definitely one of the best places to get macaroons from!
The lemon meringue had a nice tangy twist to it. It had a generous portion of lemon filling at the top and consisted of a nice biscuit-like texture at the bottom. Unlike most places, desserts here taste extremely fresh and many tourists as well as locals were seen patronizing the outlet. I had savored every bite!
The store also has their own membership program which consists of paying $80. Customers get vouchers worth $80 to purchase any cakes or pastries. Loyalty points are giving to customers whenever their membership card is produced during purchase.
The packaging is sooo adorable as all pastries come in colorful boxes with a pink or yellow paper bag (customers can request for the color). They definitely make good gifts!
