The latest entrant, opening their doors in the new HillV2 shopping mall in Bukit Gombak in December 2014, is Burrito Boys. Styled as a quick, casual, affordable Mexican fast food restaurant, Burrito Boys occupies a niche, untapped market in West Singapore. And with their decent food, Burrito Boys is worth checking out for people in the area!
Ambience at Burrito Boys is clean and functional, with wooden furniture spaced neatly around the brightly lit, 50-seater dining area. Rather than Mexican style decor, they've chosen to go with typography, referencing Mexican food, as the wallpaper. Queues can get rather long during peak periods though, as the menu doesn't clearly state the various choices you have to make when ordering, leading the bottlenecks during service. Would help if the menu was much clearer on the various options available.
Service at Burrito Boys is relatively straight-forward, similar to service at other fast food franchises, in particular, Subway. Ordering, payment, and collection is self-service over the counter, though you get to choose how to build your meal. Staff are quite helpful in this regard, informing you of all the choices you can select from, but this causes service bottlenecks / slower pace, while people decide what they'll like to eat. Staff here are also efficient are clearing empty / dirty tables for other diners.
Food at Burrito Boys is Mexican style fast food. Featuring mainly Burritos, Tacos, or Bowls, you can customise each meal to your liking. Choose from either grilled chicken, steak, carnitas (marinated pork), vegetables, or Mexican tofu, along with a variety of other condiments and sauces. Portions are decently sized and filling for individuals, and a typical meal here costs less than SGD $15 per person. Taste is generally decent, but Burrito Boys isn't worth going out of the way for. Dine here only if you're nearby.
