Setting - nice place at The Central. No problems about that. Comfy seats, not overcrowded on a Thursday night.Value - not bad, since they have the $9.90++ fish deal. There was ONE girl who was trying to serve us properly. But another girl that actually came to bring us to our table was HORRIBLE. She did not acknowledge us when we first got there and only when I was touching everything and walking in to seat myself did she begin to react.
So she came over and was waving the menus everywhere, and acted like she was going to give the menu to us, but she didn't. She was just waving the menus all around all the way to the table. Then she mumbled something we did not understand, and we asked her to repeat herself. She was annoyed and repeated it in the same manner which was impossible to understand!
Since we had no idea what she was talking about, she left and we ignored whatever she was saying or even doing.
When it came to take the order, she was very blase, nonchalant and indifferent. She wasn't paying attention at all, didn't make eye contact or make any move to act interested in her job, which is SERVING. If I was the manager, she'll be sacked on the spot! So rude, careless, impolite and downright disgustingly unhelpful. The service, because of her was so appaling we were VERY SHOCKED. We expected higher standards of this joint! NOTHING about this girl made us want to eat there, and NOTHING about her service was actually service.
And we were watching the guys behind the counter and one of them had plastic food-handling gloves on. We watched him scratch his ears with the plastic gloves on, and then he went on to handle the food! SHOCK HORROR! What kind of standard does this place have??
Anyway, about the food - it was pretty good. Nice pieces of snapper baked and grilled nicely. Not extremely fresh like at Fish & Co., but with all the seasonings it's hard to tell how unfresh it really is. Came with "garlic" rice (didn't really tatse like anything) which is an Asian thing but very weird for Westerners. So we ordered chips as well.
The rice was alright, with a few pieces of vegetables. Rice was a bit too soft and broken, but the veges were firm.
The chips were fantastic. Very good seasoning, came hot, and were addictive. Long thin chips, like Macca's but much much much better.
NOT recommended due to EXTREMELY slack service and gross hygiene by
food-handlers. Food quality is only average. We'll rather get a Subway next time.
