This is a dish that appears every single time I visit Din Tai Fung - their Fried Rice with Shrimps and Eggs! This is practically a staple and the safest choice on the menu.
Shrimp wontons in black sauce would serve as the ideal satisfaction for a small eater. Or the ones who intends to save stomach space for more variety.
As staple as their fried rice: steamed xiaolongbaos.
Their Steamed Chicken is served on a cold platter: the smoothness and tenderness of the meat is great though not the best.
This basket of vegetables dumplings did not change my opinion on vegetables... it was choking with their greenness and the rawness of its taste. They could have mixed shrimps or mushrooms in to make the flavours more flexible.
I'm a returning customer for their Oriental Wontons with Black Vinegar & Chilli Oil which I loved the first time I tried it. I am not a huge fan of spicy food but I downed these fiery wontons again and again because it's that good.
The Suntec City's branch did the Sliced Duck in Crispy Spring Onion Pastry much better, while Wisma Atria's version was less generous and less crispy, losing its original oomph.
Their crab xiaolongbaos are relatively disappointing because the crab flavours in the dumplings tasted slightly off-form and stale. I'm not sure if it is supposed to be like that but in any case, it wasn't the original crab meat taste I was expecting.
