This stall used to be my favorite fish soup stall, one that I'll never miss to order from if I'm at Ghim Moh market. But around half a year ago, the chef left and I was devastated by the drop in standard and could not bring myself to try it again after giving the new chef 2 chances. This stall used to be my favorite fish soup stall, one that I'll never miss to order from if I'm at Ghim Moh market. But around half a year ago, the chef left and I was devastated by the drop in standard and could not bring myself to try it again after giving the new chef 2 chances. Now, the disappointment has subsided somewhat and I gave this a 3rd try. Hmmm I can only say that the fish soup is not bad, just that no longer as fantastic before. If you are new to the stall, you might be ok with accepting the standard (but having tasted much better fare here before, it's no longer the top of my list, although I might still eat it once in a while.) The soup generally is still ok-tasting, and the amount of fried fish given is quite a lot (5 pieces) for a $3 bowl. Plenty of vegetables are given too, including a slice of tomato and slices of ginger instead. There's also a whiff of chinese wine added to the soup. (Alas, the soup was definitely more flavorful last time with more milk and wine added too and a tastier batter for the fried fish but ok, I'll have to look forward). To be fair, the fish soup noodles is still considered slightly above average. Service is still good - the serving lady is still the same and she always recognizes me as I was one of her regular customers (although less so now).
