I am into healthy eating and eat vegetarian every now and then. However, I've yet to try a vegan meal (vegetarian with no meat products like eggs and dairy products). Thus, I was very excited to have been chosen for the openrice tasting session here. You can try to take the free shuttle bus here which runs hourly on a few routes. Otherwise, driving might be more convenient as there are ample free parking spaces. Well, I was given a "just lost my vegan virginity" sticker that I took a photo with

- The harley davidson bike on displayWe were presented with the party pack, which is a selection of small-sized burgers with some sides and drinks. First up was the seaweed fries which had no salt added to them. You cannot really taste any seaweed but the fries themselves were pretty good, tasty with a crispy coating - easy to just keep popping them into your mouth.
- Seaweed friesThe spinach pops, which are made fresh daily, is one of my favorite. They are very crispy on the outside and the mashed potato and spinach stuffing inside was very nice too!
- Spinach popsThe vegan franks were amazing, they tasted almost exactly like regular sausages. But they are actually made from tofu! The consistency is similar to chipolata (slightly softer compared to hotdogs) type of sausages. The vegan franks' smoked flavor was done very well too.
- Vegan franksFor all the burgers we tried, only the breadcrumb battered soy patty was given, perhaps because it's for the small sized party burgers. The soy patty is probably made from textured soy vegetable protein. It's quite similar to the mock meat you get outside for some vegetarian outlets. Tasted pretty good, I'll say. The difference between the different burgers I've tested lie mainly in the sauces used and types of vegetables added. The ciabatta breads used were not bad, although I did not detect any sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds and walnuts (because it's the mini version??).
For the Hawaiian teriyaki, chopped pineapple was used instead of a whole pineapple ring for the regular sized burger. Still, the pineapple was refreshingly sweet and went well with the fried soy patty.
- Hawaiian teriyaki burgerThe sauce for the cracked pepper mayo was good as well. The mayo sauce had just the right amount of pepper in it to uplift the flavor. It's one of their best-sellers.
- Cracked pepper mayo burgerI liked the creamy shrooms burger too as I'm a huge lover of mushrooms. I liked their homemade creamy sauce which had no egg in it and yet still tasted good.
- Creamy shrooms burgerThe chocolate cake, though not as tasty as those with egg or milk in it, was still fairly delicious. The marshmallow on top was also not too sweet.
- Chocolate cakeGenerally, the items here are not overly sweet or salty, which is much healthier than other fastfood restaurants out there. If you wanna be even healthier, perhaps you can skip the burgers with fried patties and go for those with grilled patties (also available here) and eat less of the fries.
For drinks, I tried the Citron which is similar to lime but which tasted just ok, nothing fantastic. The tangerine (orange-flavor) tasted a bit better but I think it's still slightly artificial in taste. As for the lemon cola (similar to lemon tea) which I did not have any more stomach space for, my fellow companions all liked that.
VeganBurg left a good impression on me and I'll definitely try more vegan food in the future. If you are a vegan virgin, you can try the food here as I think they have done quite a good job trying to present it in a similar way to regular fast food restaurants to make it more palatable for those who have not tried vegan before.
