Was this the same store as the one in Toa Payoh market? I decided to give it a try. There was after all, a queue. Typical Singaporean behaviour. Skipped my usual ban mian and went for their sheng mian, dry. Skipped my usual ban mian and went for their sheng mian, dry. The three people in front of me all made orders for this.
So.. was it worth the leap of faith?
For $3, this was a substantial bowl of noodles. their mix of chilli sauce was a good flavour burst for the noodles. What I didn't like though, was their use of dark sauce that overwhelmed everything else and if you mixed it through, it'd make for a really unappetizing bowl of noodles. Their noodles had a springy texture with a lot of bite. And i loved that they had prawns too. But this wasn't the same as the taste of the stall at toa payoh. I didn't want to ask though, seeing as how long the queue was.
The soup though, was what the noodles were cooked in and that was a bowl of alkali tasting starchy bowl of soup. skip that.
I'll be back to try out their ban mian.
