During the mooncakes season, I decided not to go to the hotels and waste money on non-traditional and highly overpriced mooncakes. So I went to the heartland bakeries and found yummy mooncakes! These ones were so well made, you can see the definition in the pastry. They are only the mini ones and it's good because you can try a lot of flavours with the mini ones! The filling is just sweet enough and there are low sugar options. These ones were so well made, you can see the definition in the pastry. They are only the mini ones and it's good because you can try a lot of flavours with the mini ones! The filling is just sweet enough and there are low sugar options. The baked pastry is perfect and just thick enough. The fillings come in a wide variety from green tea to pandan to lotus to white lotus and egg yolk, chocolate, etc. i stuck with the more "traditional" flavours like lotus, white lotus, egg yolks, green tea and pandan.
I love the green and golden colours of the fillings! While it's expensive at $2.80++ a piece depending on flavour, it's much cheaper than the hotels and it does taste better. None of those new-age durian, lychee, marshmallow, candy flavours.
I love these mooncakes and once again, it can only be found in Singapore! Every year I wait eagerly for them to bring these out!
Q bread did well with the mooncakes this time. Their Chinese New Year pineapple tarts were TERRIBLE. I almost swore never to buy anything from them after tasting their CNY pineapple tarts. But their mooncakes are a must try!
Recommended for mooncakes!
