If you have craving for BBQ seafood, head down to Chomp Chomp Food Centre. It is filled with stalls offering BBQ seafood and other local delights. Although there are a lot of barbequing, the place is quite ventilated. There are also several handicap-friendly tables all around the food centre. We randomly ordered from Ah Liang BBQ Seafood a medium sized stingray and waited patiently for it. Their chilli is surprising hot and spicy and tasty. It goes very well with the stingray. Another dish worth mentioning and I never fail to order is their Pig's Trotters in Vinegar. It brings back fond memories of my grandmother’s specialty dish. There is a well-balanced taste between the sweetness and sourness of broth. The Pig's Trotters are cooked perfectly, QQ skin and tender meat. Met my family for dinner at the new Sumire Yakitori House at Bugis Junction. When we first entered, we were greeted heartily by the service crews. Each table is given an Ipad to take orders. The menus given to us are less comprehensive than the menu in the Ipad. Interesting, the Tsukune comes in two “sizes”, meatball for men and meatball for ladies. The prices for the meatball for men and the meatball for ladies are the same. The only difference is the bite size between the two options. The meatballs are very juicy and flavorful. However, there are soft bones in the meatballs. If you don’t like soft bone, you might not like the meatballs. The king prawn yakitori is expensive and not fresh. I would not recommend. If you have the urge to have some snacks while shopping, head down to basement 2. The chirpy chicken selling at Chippy British Take Away is great as a snack. It comes in medium and large serving. The servings comes with cheese topping which can either be given separately or on the chicken. Looking for a place to chill and enjoy a bowl of dessert? This stall serves one of the best mango pomelo dessert around Singapore and the stall is fully air-conditioned for full comfort. Even though the environment is air- conditioned, it’s dessert is still a bit cheaper than other stalls, selling at $4 per bowl. The serving of one bowl is just nice for one person. For those who wants to try the famous Chachutak Coconut Ice Cream, good news!!! IT IS HERE IN SINGAPORE!! Their flagship outlet is located at our fun-filled beach in Singapore, Sentosa.Happen to chance upon it while strolling along Siloso Beach Walk. We were delighted and approached the stall. If I remember correctly, the price is steep!! It is at least $5 for a scoop of ice cream! Nevertheless, ordered one to try. It was a disappointment... :( It was different from what we ate at Chachutak. In Chachutak, we are allow to choose two out of the variety of toppings available. This western food stall is hidden away in a small coffee shop under a HDB block. You will definitely miss it if you don’t know about its existence. But there is always a long queue during peak meal hours. The good thing is that you can call up to make your order before heading down to dine in or takeaway. The cutlet fried rice is worth trying. Whenever I drive pass Balestier, my wife would ask if I can stop by 603 Tao Sar Piah to buy some for our family. Their Tao Sar Piah is very fresh and it is always warm when you eat it immediately. We will always but a mix of sweet and salty ones. The pastry is not hard and the filling is just the right proportion. This is the first time I am trying the ban mian from this store. The mian is not pre-made from factory. When you make your order, the assistant will cut the mian on the spot. The end product of the mian gives you a QQ feeling when you chew on it. They added some new ingredients into the dish. They have mushroom and fried garlic. This is the first time that I am trying the carrot cake from coffee bean. And it was a great disappointment. The carrot cake was dry and the taste was rather blunt. It was lumpy in the middle and cold. The ingredients inside are nuts and carrot. I was expecting more from Coffee Bean. If you are looking for delicious chili crab, you may want to try Roland Restaurant‘s famous chili crab! Their chili crab is fresh and succulent. The gravy is filled with thick and luscious eggs and it goes very well with deep fried man-tous. The crabs are cracked up enough so that you do not need to use the pincers to crack it yourself. My usual noodle stall is not open. So I tried the western food from the coffee shop. Oh My!!! It’s one of the worse western food I have tasted. The rice is tasteless and dry, the “chicken cutlet” has so much crumbs covered on it that I cannot taste the chicken. The salad is a normal commercial salad. And all that cost me $6.50. Since Christmas is around the corner, they have start serving their Christmas drinks. And one of my favourite drink is Cranberry White Chocolate Mocha. I will also order a Glazed Old Fashion to go along with it. The Glazed Old Fashion is a sugar coated donut like pastry. It has a soft filling and a sweet outer coating.
