There's a special promotion that starts at every 8pm @ Flor, Takashimaya.Flor has a strict rule of not keeping their cakes overnight. They like to maintain the freshness of their cake. Which is great for me. Cause after 8, any 2 slices of cakes goes only for $10. Me and my colleague bought one each for ourselves.I had the Wakakusayama. I have great colleagues, and Im always recommended by them for new places especially bakeries for cupcakes! Im a sucka for cupcakes.I chose the Sesame Street's specials and I choose all of them. One each, Elmo, Oscar and Cookie Monster. Im not sure many walk in bakeries have this designs. Most are like you have to order in advanced. The buttercream on the cupcakes were thick but i liked it. The cake was a bit dry and has not much flavor. But nevertheless I enjoyed it. The design made me such a happy girl! Im a sucka for Sesame Streets as well.The cupcakes dont come cheap though. The only good reason to work in Orchard Road is that you can have a wide variety of choices of pastries for tea time! Spinelli is only 5 mins walk from my office and i'm tempted to to get a slice of cheesecake. But then i saw that there's a set of 3 mini cakes that is less than $5 altogether. Sold!! I chose Tiramisu, Opera & Cheesecake! Its like bite size but still is good. i like the tiramisu, you can taste a hint of alcohol. The cheese cake and opera was just creamy loved it! A dear colleague of mine bought me a Double Chocolate Muffin from this bakery. After reading the reviews here in OpenRice, I was optimistic that the Muffin would be one of the best that i would have.But sadly no. For an affordable price of only $2.80, the double chocolate muffin comes in the size of my fist and heavily loaded with chocolate chips. And with all that dark chocolate chips, I don't really get that sweet chocolaty flavour from it. or maybe its just me. Should have opted for the Banana Apple Muffin that my colleague got. Was feeling under the weather and i was just in need of something soupy for lunch. But I need it to be filling for the stomach. Thankfully for Mui Fan.. i got the best of both world.Unfortunately what I asked for from the staff was Chicken and not Seafood..and they gave me seafood. But i enjoyed the dish! Its hard to find seats in the stall. Not only its limited but you have alot of people lining up having their food being ordered. I feel like everyone has to rush eating not what i would enjoy. So i enjoyed a bowl of laksa, dont think there was any cockles inside but i know there's 3 prawns and 1 half boiled egg. The noodles were generous and I enjoyed the gravy. At only 12.30 pm, the que was long enough to make one wonder if you should bother to wait when you're hungry. But this stall was recommended by my colleague, so I guess I had to try no?Had to wait for a few minutes to make an order, the workers are mostly Thais. I love cupcakes.. Couldn't resist them!Heard of Plain Vanilla through word of mouth. A colleague of mine raved about them countless of times! Makes me need to get my hand on one of them! And i eventually did.I bought the Violet Lemon, which is one of the special of that week, that cost only $3.50. I love how elegant the cupcake looks. If you could see it closely, there's a small petals on the buttercream. Sweetly scented, it's lemon cake with lemon curd in the centre. KFC is very empty in the morning which is good. Less waiting time for me to get my food. Service is really fast.BUT!... There's always a but..The Original Twister Wrap that i got for myself for only $3.90 was just sad. The wrap consist of egg, diced tomatoes, chicken and mayo, and it was just 1/2 full and it wasnt warm. Its no fun eating just the wrap. Tasteless. Been having cupcakes craving like some pregnant woman and when I pass the Twelve Cupcakes.. all the pretty cupcakes called out for meee... EAT MEE!!So I did.. well not all.. During the Fasting month and at 5.45 - 6.30pm and you wish to get anything from Qi Ji.. dont.. its tooo crowded. There's a lot of people que-ing up for take-aways. So maybe best to come back later after 7.20pm! All i only wanted was to satisfy my Chee Cheong Fun craving that all and I queued for a good 30 mins... or maybe less..Wasted my precious 30 mins.. Being a typical Singaporean, I love my chicken rice. Not chicken rice in general but Hainanese Chicken Rice. The dish is simple; bite-sized pieces of steamed white chicken, fragrant rice, light or dark soy sauce, and a delicious ground chilli and ginger paste.And to get my fix of the nation's favorite dish, i just have to head on to Hainanese Delicacy which is a stone throw away from my office. Unlike other Singaporeans, I dont like to que. So lunch hour, they're pretty packed and you could see a que of at least 10 pax by 12.30. So best is to order for a take-away. I asked for white chicken with rice and additional braised egg which cost a 50 cents more. Which to me is reasonable. I would have guessed that they gave me half an egg but they gave me in full! The chilli.. ohhhh the chilli.. itss sooo soo sooo spicy and look how beautifully red it is.. makes it so tempting to lick it off which unfortunately caused my lips to be on fire! The boyfriend and I had lunch here and surprisingly its not that crowded on a Monday, during the lunch hour. Less crowds mean fast service. The moment we settled down, the staff gave us our menu and took our order within the next few minutes. Pleased to say that both our roasted chicken rice was delivered in express mode as well. Something sweet my mouths tell me! I need something sweet!! So Auntie Anne's pretzel was nearby plus its filling for the stomach so yes! Getting the Cinnamon Pretzel!So the service was just average.. Anyone who knows me, knows that there's no place in the world I would rather be but to be surrounded by books. And Epilogue Cafe is one of the few places that allows me to enjoy both ambiance and good food. Located on the 4th floor of ION Orchard, its nicely hidden at the back of the popular book store, Prologue. You can easily miss it if you don't step in to the book store. Lucky for me that Epilogue Cafe is well hidden. Such warm and cosy cafe should be kept away from public! This is my fourth visit and I've not seen it full house. Their menu offers a small selection of main course that ranges from Mac N Cheese to Lasagna. For those who wish for something lighter, they do serve salad and paninis too. They have a small counter filled with cakes, macarrons and even scones! I had a pot of Chocolate Mint ($6), and the very american Mac N Cheese ($9+).Macaroni and cheese is the perfect comfort food! Its creamy and light and not forgetting cheesy! Gooey Goodness. I am definitely coming back to Epilogue each time i crave for Mac N Cheese. I love how it left me not feeling over stuffed!The mint in the Chocolate Mint makes it wonderfully refreshing while it is sweet like a dessert from the chocolate. I don't do tea actually but this is just an exception. Its smooth and just refreshes my throat. I could have this for hours and just be at home at this cafe. This is the ideal place for those seeking solace away from the busy streets of Orchard during lunch time.
