[shauneeie review] Sanrio's newest cafe
Pompompurin Cafe
2016-05-01
Lo and behold. Singapore is the first in Southeast Asia, to open the Pompompurin Café at Orchard Central with much fanfare. For a weekend ritual, make this cafe the perfect spot for parents to spoil their kids with the famous canine-themed décor. Talk about a menu overloaded with colours and cuteness, we had Pompompurin’s Coconut Milk Chicken Curry . It’s a dish made up of chunks of chicken and mild coconut curry, topped off with veggies shaped as hearts, forks, stars and spoons. And, you have an adorable Pompompurin head-shaped rice to make you happy. It’s not spicy, but it tastes somewhat sweet instead. Still, the dish’s cuteness made up for everything! For drinks, we picked the Cookie & Cream Caramel Latte . If you have a sweet tooth, this could be a drink and dessert for you. It’s a sweet and delicious drink, but its rich flavours can be too sweet for my liking. So, what are you waiting for? Unleash the inner child in you and indulge in the irresistibly cuteness of Pompompurin today! [shauneeie review] Sizzling Charcoal BBQ
SEORAE JIB (Plaza Singapura)
2016-05-01
Seems like Singapore just can't get enough of Korean food. The highly anticipated Seorae Galmaegi has finally landed in Singapore at CapitaLand Mall Asia's Plaza Singapura. Snaking queue can be seen during dinner time and it's probably a good idea to go early. What to expect at this famed Korean BBQ joint ? Seorae's signature Korean galmaegisal  of course, which is also known as pork skirt meat. The meat is somewhat tender and very flavorful in the marinade. Other than the signature item, we had Samgyeobsal, pork belly, in spicy marinade , Hangjeongsal, pork neck , Woosamgyeob, beef belly and LA Galbi, beef ribs . You can choose to BBQ these meats yourself or Seorae's friendly service staffs will do it for you. Look after your meats carefully and once done, dip them in either the free flow egg at the side or the very delicious melted cheese which comes at $2 a portion (highly recommended by me).Other than the pork, the beef belly has got to be my other favorite BBQ meat here at Seorae. Look at that perfect dip of meat and cheese below. Flavors complimenting one another and it would be a pity if you skip ordering the cheese. overallreview: full review and pics @ http://shauneeie.blogspot.sg/2016/04/seorae-singapore-plaza-singapura.html…查看更多

Ramen Keisuke Lobster King @ Clarke Quay
Ramen Keisuke Lobster King
2016-03-05
Ramen Keisuke has launched its 10th outlet at Clarke Quay - Lobster King. Nope, you will not find full lobsters in your ramen but you will find that the broth is brewed from lobster shells. The lobster broth is meticulously simmered for 6 hours and is used when you order your ramen. Was told that its opening hours are till 5am. So for the clubbers and chillers, this is the place to get your hunger pangs satisfied after a couple rounds on the dancefloor.Below, we had the Lobster Broth Ramen (Clear Soup) and the Spicy Miso Lobster Broth Ramen. First thing when the ramen was served - lobster! That scent of lobster broth filled the air. Grab a spoon and dug into the soup and it was very flavourful. A tad salty but very delicious. Besides the ramen, the omu rice (egg fried rice) was one of my other favourite dish. Grab a frozen beer to wash down the noodles and you're in for a great meal. overallreview @ http://shauneeie.blogspot.sg/2016/03/ramen-keisuke-lobster-king-clarke-quay.html…查看更多

Pho Street @ Westgate
Pho Street
2016-03-05
Shopping around Jurong East and thinking of an affordable place for a meal, Pho Street is located in one of CapitaLand Mall Asia's malls, Westgate. Located at basement 2, Pho Street could be an ideal solution to enjoy good , affordable and fast serving vietnamese food. You can start with some vietnamese street snacks like the Sesame Rice Crackers with Fragrant Mined Meat or the Vietnamese Snack Platter consisting of pork rolls, chicken skewers and vietnamese crabcakes. If the stomach's feeling a tad spacious, the Banh Mi combi can be your choice of meal. Though you can't find that local authentic Banh Mi flavours, the combination of pork belly, grilled beef and chicken ham is just as good.Throw in some Summer Rolls and bowls of Pho to complete your meal.full review @ http://shauneeie.blogspot.sg/2016/03/pho-street-westgate.html…查看更多

Naughty Nuri's Singapore @ Capitol Piazza
Naughty Nuri's
2016-03-05
The ever famous ribs from Bali has landed on the shores of Singapore. Yeap, I am talking about Naughy Nuri's! Indonesia's reknown bbq glazed pork ribs opens at Capitol Piazza. Pork ribs are one of my favourite food and after hearing of the opening, decided to venture there during their first couple days. How was it ? Well, compared to the Naughty Nuri in Bali, it was so much more expensive. LOL! However, this is probably one of the better places to get your ribs now in Singapore. We ordered the full rack which cost about $35 (pretty decent serving and pricing). The meat slid off the bones and were tender and very flavourful. We followed up with some Nasi Goreng (fried rice) and sides like fries, corncob and skin. Besides the pork, the other items were rather average. Fries though was one of the better sides that came out from the kitchen. overallreview @ http://shauneeie.blogspot.sg/2016/02/naughty-nuris-singapore-capitol-piazza.html…查看更多

Atlas Coffeehouse @ Duke's Road
Atlas Coffeehouse
2016-02-24
The new year brings a new player to the cafe scene. From the people who brought you Assembly Coffee (one of my favorite cafes btw) comes Atlas Coffeehouse. Located along the Bukit Timah stretch, this place is perfect for a weekday afternoon coffee.Opened less than 2 months and I'm already here 4 times. What did i have here at Atlas coffee? Continue readingCoffee obviously, but that's not all. Mocha was kinda average.Salted Caramel Buttermilk Waffle seems like the one at Assembly. Nothing out of the ordinary. Still one of my favorite waffles around. Decided to try one of their savory mains and the first item which caught my eye was the Creamy Mushroom on Sourdough. The scrabbled egg made the dish ever more photogenic. Tasted great, loved the flavors of the mushrooms and sauce.overallreview: full review @ http://shauneeie.blogspot.sg/2016/02/atlas-coffeehouse-duke-road.htmlfollow me on instagram: @shauneeie or like my facebook page: @shauneeie for more foodie escapades…查看更多

Dallas Restaurant & Bar @ Suntec City
Dallas Restaurant & Bar
2016-02-24
Dallas Restaurant & Bar opens their second outlet at Suntec City. Away from the bustles of their first outlet at Boat Quay, Dallas Restaurant & Bar offers a myriad of bar bites, wines and beer while also serving good ole american meat.Housed in a glass house styled interior, this indoor cum al fresco space serves up a treat. While you have your beers and alcohol, Dallas Restaurant & Bar offers finger food which are irresistibly good. the Snapper Fish Tacos ($8) and Pork Belly Tacos ($7) relives the hunger during Happy hour. If you're in for something heavier though, do try the meat platter here at Dallas. The platter goes at $70 for two or $130 for three. Given the size of the portion and how affordable it is, the number of pax must be strictly adhered too. overallreivew: full review @ http://shauneeie.blogspot.sg/2016/02/dallas-restaurant-bar-suntec-city.htmlfollow me on instagram: @shauneeie or like my facebook page: @shauneeie for more foodie escapades…查看更多

Boruto Tapas and Sake Bar @ South Bridge Road
Boruto
2016-02-24
Hidden along the South Bridge Road lies this Japanese tapas and sake sake bar - Boruto. Passerby will most likely walk past this dimly lit shop front and it even took me a while to locate Boruto. However, once inside, you'd be brought into a world of Japanese tapas food and drinksThat visit, we largely had small plates of tapas to share. Boruto is reknown to be a go to chill out place after work, have a drink (sake, whiskey or Asahi on tap) while snacking on some good sides.First up, we had the perfectly Seared Saga Beef ($28.80). Topped with garnish and saffron, each slice was a treat to the taste buds. However, what the dish which won me over here at Boruto was the Crispy Rice Cracker ($12.80). Based with rice crackers and topped off with a very good rendition of pulled pork, guacamole and chilli salsa (trust me the pulled pork is excellent).Still hungry after these, there're carbs on the menu in the form of the Uni Pasta 1.1 ($35.80). Sea urchin, yuzu sock with cappellini. Not for the faint hearted if you're no fan of fishy taste. Lastly, we ended the night with seared tuna. The Ahi Tataki ($12.80) was decent enough. not the best I've had but good enough. overallreview: full review @ http://shauneeie.blogspot.sg/2016/02/boruto-tapas-and-sake-bar-south-bridge.htmlfollow me on instagram: @shauneeie or like my facebook page: @shauneeie for more foodie escapades…查看更多

Working Title Burger Bar @ Arab Street
(working title) | Burger Bar
2016-01-21
As you walk along the busy stretch along Arab Street, you will no doubt set your sights on this cozy halal cafe which doubles up as a hostel. You'd see backpackers sipping coffee while waiting to be checked in. That's right, it's Working Title Burger Bar.Working Title is a halal cafe, serving up a menu of brunch items, but its owners pride themselves with serving up some mouth watering burgers. As you walk into working title. its interior might be a little dark, but wait till you walk into the back part of the cafe and you'd be in for a surprise. Want to see the outcome of this shot below? Continue reading on!We had a go at some of their burgers as well as snacks but what blew our mind were the churros with bandung ice cream. Yeap, very photo worthy. The churros were more dense, the more doughy kind of texture. Munching on some snacks like their Ribena wings and Truffle Tater Tots.Had a couple of burgers - tower of power, magic mushroom and darkwing duck. The burgers mostly came with beef patty and were accompanied by the different themes. full review and pictures @ http://shauneeie.blogspot.sg/2016/01/working-title-burger-bar-arab-street.html…查看更多

CATO @ South Bridge Road
CATO
2015-11-06
This new modern asian bar cum restaurant has recently landed on South Bridge Road near Chinatown. Known as CATO, this place serves up a mix of good tap and draft beers as well as finger foods which were a real treat. Occupying two levels, and a DJ on the second floor, CATO oozed food and music. So what did we have at CATO?Let me introduce to you some drinks first. With a wide selection of almost 60 different types of alcohol, I gave some of the recommended beers a try. Loved that IPA tapped and the Modern Times coffee stout. Time for the foodPrawn Bisque 3HandsA good starter to warm your stomach. Found the prawn bisque creamy and flavourful. Garlic Fries 3HandsIf you're a garlic fan, you would love this dish. Chucks of garlic spread over hot pipping fries. A good pairing for the assortment of beers at CATO.Acai Cured Salmon 3HandsSaid to be a superfood, Acai used to cure salmon chunks. Presented like a fine dining course, i take it a a bonus. It tasted somewhat weird, prolly not used to the flavours. Crispy Squid in Thai-Style Glaze 5HandsVery well fried. Looks ordinary but tasted really good. Complimented well especially with the stout coffee, i would recommend this dish to everyone who's dining here.CATO Wings 3HandsWings wings and more wings. Ordinary.Steam baked pork cheek 4HandsServed wrapped up in a bag. As you unravel the pork cheeks, that fragrant aroma lingers out from the top. Coupled with the pinch of playfulness in the dish, it was awesome. Pork was tender and not too tough, the sauce complimenting well with the whole dish.Aunty Jasmine's Fish Curry 4HandsPlating was on point once again. Using Aunty Jasmine's recipe, a curry is brothed and served with the fish. You can choose to pour it over or dip it into the sauce. The table loved that fish.Done with the mains and starters, time for some desserts. full review @ http://shauneeie.blogspot.sg/2015_11_01_archive.html…查看更多

Ciao@ - Haji Lane
Ciao@
2015-11-06
Ciao@ is a new F&B concept along Haji Lane. A mixed concept, Ciao@ provides a unique experience, bringing to diners the experience of italian food in a bar. The owners pride themselves with whipping up quality homespun italian recipes. What to eat at Ciao@, here's what we had for the night:Fritto Del Piceno A mix of cheese balls fried with veges and chef's surprise. A surprise in every bite. I loved the one with cheese and bacon. Playful and cheeky. Calamari So good. If they could be that consistent, this dish would be one of their top drawer. Pan fired Calamari with pine nuts, cherry tomato and olives. Ciao@ has brought back what squid should taste like, the right texture. Tartufina Classic truffle pizza with lots of mozarella. Simple but satisfying. The crust was a top draw where you can taste that it is freshly made. Focaccia al Rosmarino Italian plain pizza topped with fresh rosemary and garlic. A good side finger food but can be a tad pricey.Stinco Di Maiale Alla Birra 5hands Prolly the best dish of the night IMO. Both the mash and white cabbage were lovely condiments. That pork knuckle, dapped in beer for two whole days - so different from elsewhere. Don't expect a crispy exterior. It's like a mix of chinese meet western, soft yet slick exterior and meat that slides off the bone. Bistecca DI Polipo Grilled Octopus Steak with sauteed spinach. Two slabs of octopus which tasted too much for one to handle. Unique but didn't go down well with my palate. full review @ http://shauneeie.blogspot.sg/2015/10/ciao-haji-lane.html…查看更多

Masizzim @ Somerset 313
마시찜
2015-11-06
From the same folks who brought you Chir Chir, Masizzim Singapore is Somerset313's latest addition to the Korean food craze. With hearty portions and loads of wonderful flavours, Masizzim distinguishes itself by serving famous Korean stews and other Korean dishes. What to eat at Masizzim ? Here's what we had.Sikhye Jar Brewed malt barely and rice. A sweet drink yet thirst quenching, in house made and very fresh. Similar to the can malt barley drink you find everywhere in Korea. Rice BallsAnchovy Tuna Served in a bowl, you are encouraged to wear gloves and play with your food. Mix up the ingredients and roll them into balls, or any shapes you wish. Personally, I favoured the anchovy rice balls to the tuna. You get different textures on the anchovy rice balls, the crush of the fish, the rice grains and the flavours mix every well together. Tuna was still good but i preferred that crush feel with every bite for the anchovy. The stews Beef Rib Pork Rib Well, as everyone had different opinions on the stews, personally I liked the pork one alot. Rich in flavours and the meat of the pork came of easily. The curry chicken and beef stew were good too, just that i preferred the pork more. Let me know which stew you guys liked.PancakesTomato Cheese Kimchi Pancake 3Hands $13Looked like a pizza and tasted like a pizza. It confused me and I went away wanting for something else. Nonetheless, if you're a fan of cheese, this beef stuff pizza would delight you.Squid and Leek 4Hands $14My other favourite dish of the night - this squid and leek pancake is rightly crusted all over and the flavor was spot on. Cut out a piece, dip it with the in house sauce and you'll feel the different textures in every bite. I loved it.full review @ http://shauneeie.blogspot.sg/2015/10/masizzim-somerset-313.html…查看更多

Dessert Project @ Havelock Road
Dessert Project
2015-08-02
And so I heard of another cafe along Havelock road serving ice creams, waffles and the famous shibuya toast. That's right, if you have heard about it too, it is a new shop under the blocks of flats called Dessert Project. Dessert Project's interior - very simplistic, shades of grey and concrete. With black pipes running like an artwork. We decided to pop by and we found creative flavours of ice cream - from truffle to parma ham and famous amos flavoured ice cream. Ice Cream The truffle flavour was way to dense, probably good to share. One scoop is too much for a pax. We liked the famous amos flavour which came out fresh from the kitchen when we arrived. A scoop for $3.80, $4.20 for premium flavours, it compares to most ice cream bars around Singapore. Nutella ToastA variety of toast to choose from and we ended up with Nutella. To be honest, the two scoops of rocher and vanilla ice cream were spot on. However, that couldn't be said for the toast. Although light and fluffy, it lacks that punch of butter. You can vaguely taste much butter when you cut open the toast which had us feeling quite disappointed. At $14.90, I would think twice before having this toast the next time. overallreview: Ful reivew and photos @ http://shauneeie.blogspot.sg/2015/07/dessert-project-havelock-road.html…查看更多

Montana Brew Bar @ POMO (Part 2)
Montana Brew Bar
2015-08-02
So have you heard, Montana Brew Bar now offers burgers to compliment their menu of waffles. Popped by to try out their affordable yet flavourful items. Truffle Egg Burger That egg, the piece of melted cheese above the decent chunk of beef patty. Grab it together and take a bite. Shiok I tell you. Umami Burger Miso shitakae mushrooms sautéed perfectly, topped above that beef patty. My favourite amongst the burgers. See that generous amount of mushrooms - generous yet just nice. Pesto Chicken Burger Chicken, pesto and corn. Something on the safe side. I felt flavours were lacking. Nonetheless, a safe bet in a menu of beef patties.Thai Lemongrass Prawn BurgerLemongrass prawn patty married with fresh onions and cubes of mango. drizzled with some green curry dressing. A great mix and a seafoody experience. overall reivew: full reveiew and photos @ http://shauneeie.blogspot.sg/2015/07/montana-brew-bar-pomo-part-2.htmlfollow me on instagram: @shauneeie or like my facebook page: @shauneeie for more foodie escapades…查看更多

Cool Play Softserve @ Toa Payoh Lorong 4
CoolPlay Soft Serve
2015-07-11
Coolplay soft serve ice cream has finally nestled in Singapore, amongst the old estate of Toa Payoh. Yeap, that famous soft serve brand from Taiwan is finally opened here on our sunny island, and during a very good time when the weather is scorching hot.Every week, the good folks at CoolPlay will offer four different flavours and I last heard that they have almost 20 different types of flavours to whet our palate. Nonetheless, not all flavours were to our liking but I can safely say that the chocolate and mint will be a fan favourite soon. Other flavours include peanut butter, rum and raisins, matcha, etc..... overallreview: full review and pictures @ http://shauneeie.blogspot.sg/2015/07/cool-play-softserve-toa-payoh-lorong-4.html…查看更多
