Got a chocolate egg tart ($1.80) and mushroom chicken pastry pie ($1.40). The tart was covered by the chocolate and it was quite a heavy taste so thre was hardly any original egg tart taste. The chocolate was in the form of hardened Chocolate flakes toppings and overall it tasted average. The chicken pie tasted rather good except that it wasn't hot nor warm otherwise it will be be almost perfect. The crust was flaky and the fillings were more than enough. Yummy! continue reading

I bought a box of six mini baked char siew bun for afternoon tea from 8 tart. the lady kindly gave me a free bun saying that it was their opening special. their mini baked char siew bun is really good. the pastry is very light and flaky. when you take a bite, it practically crumbles in your mouth. there was a hint of buttery fragrance in the pastry. the char siew filling was really tasty, it was not too sweet. i felt that both the char siew and pastry went really well with each other. continue reading

A little reward for ourselves after exercising. I am too full for any food, so i decided to get something light. I had tried the Portuguese egg tart from 8 Tarts n Pastries. Well, it was fresh baked in the morning, but when i buy it in the night it was not as nice. Initially i wanted to try their lao po bing, but it sold out for the day. The Portuguese egg tart was nice (however i will prefer to consume when it was just out from the oven). I like the softness of the tart with a slight burn and floury taste. It was also crispy at the same time. The content inside the egg tarts was soft and have a egg taste. I particularly like to bite on the part that have grape on it as it has a sweet and sour taste. However, $1.60 for such a small tart, i think is slightly too expensive! Especially when the packaging wasn't very nice, they just gave me a normal transparent plastic bag. continue reading
