The salmon did not look uncooked, more like raw. The taste was oily, tender with a hint of sour.

COOKIES & MILK ($9.90++)
cookie dough ice cream, milk soil, cherry kirsch, peanut butter, honey cloud
It looked a pool of foam when served. It was light with explosive effects in the mouth.
Overall the food was not bad and served quite fast. Would like the water to be refilled more regularly. The place was not crowded on a sunday evening.

my RI friends decided to visit national museum & have lunch, so 3 of us met for lunch at concetto @ the cathay on 23.9.2015.^^
another 2 friends joined lunch afterwards, so 5pax.
concetto set lunch menu S$22.90
last time i had the set lunch here was on 10.2.2015.
prices have gone up from S$20.90 to S$22.90, inflation i guess, but for me it’s still a good deal.
i missed the YMCA (that being nearest to concetto & national museum & cheaper parking rates) carpark entrance, so parked at park mall & walked over to the cathay. concetto looks out onto the road, and is bright & airy.
we all ordered the concetto pasta – an interesting chilled capellini dish.
it was not quite the famous chilled capellinin at da luca or gordon grill or of course gunther.
still it was pretty flavourful & unique. & ala carte price is just S$4.90! :-)
i like the previous version – chilled capellini with crab & prawn tartare (tiny morsels) tossed in lobster oil & topped with lobster foam & ikura (salmon roe) – a lot better though.
think they should just revert to the previous version, full-stop!
i pushed away most of the mayonnaise. this drier version was heavier, less refine but still tasty. i had the kurobuta pork cheeks.
it had this impressive squid-ink calligraphy, haha! ^^
the kurobuta was super, melt-in-the-mouth.
& the gnocchi & sauce were very good. this the best dish for me.
we ordered different main courses to share & try.
salmon was done beautifully.
plating & presentation were top class!
with cous cous & pickled shallots, and the tasty & crab bisque pretty foam.
the chicken was good too & nice presentation too.
taste was pretty good, just chicken nothing special out of the ordinary though.
for me, kurobuta was no 1, salmon next & last chicken.
my good friend on the other hand liked the salmon best.
i only tried the pistachio panna cotta here nefore.
this time we ordered the tiramisu. again it was so pretty!
it was kind of deconstructed.
as a dessert, i think it was rather good, and i would order it next time.
as a tiramisu, i think my own tiramisu is much better, both in flavours especially coffee & liquor, & also texture.
the pistachio panna cotta was as good as last time.for a change, i will try the tiramisu next time though.
for me the only complaint was the poor service. the young guy was unhelpful, tidak apa & very poor in his service attitude. towards the end though his attitude improved from poor to ok. think he just needed some service training. the lady server was ok.
the 3-course set lunch was S$22.90, to me great value-for-money! there is a supplement of S$3 for the salmon.

This is one of the few places that offer set lunches everyday and the price staying the same between weekdays and weekends.
We tried both entrees on the set lunch menu.
Concetto pasta - which was cold and and Salitish.  Give it a miss.
Mushroom soup - which was creamy and filled with mushroom bits.
For the mains, we tried the
Kurobuta pork cheek - pork that was tasty and soft, a very good dish
Duck confit - this was ok, skin not really crispy but well executed
Lobster pasta- generous amount of lobster for the price and a tasty sauce like lobster bisque just made this dish so delicious
Fruitti de mare - seafood pasta with a tomato based sauce, tasting of seafood stock and slight spiciness.  A very rich and enjoyable dish.
For the desserts, the tiramisu offered on the set lunch is good. A deconstructed version of the normal tiramisu, you get to eat the various layers separately or together, it's really up to you. We tried the chocolate tart but it was forgettable.

Little Devil ('LD') and I have tried Saveur, for the price we actually find it quite good. So when the opportunity arises, we decided to tried Concetto. Unlike Saveur that always packed with crowd, we manage to get a seat in Concetto on a Saturday afternoon without any problem.

We started our lunch with Buffalo Mozzarella ($8.90). The Mozzarella, fresh tomatoes, parmesan cheese are served on top of toasted rye bread. Drizzle with good balsamic vinegar, it was a good appetizer, light and refreshing. We wished that there were more of the mozzarella.

Grilled Octopus Caesar Salad ($11.90). This salad is colourful and beautifully presented. Fresh salad, crispy bacon, shaved parmesan cheese binds well with the anchovies base dressing. The octopus are tender, although slightly limited. However the almost powdered eggs really captured our attention and palate. Yum Yum.

For mains, we have Crab Risotto ($13.90) and Wagyu Tender ($26.90). The risotto is al-dente and creamy. You can feel the robust broth absorbs into the arborio rice. To add to the texture, they also use crispy rice, capsicums, cucumbers and brussel sprouts. The crab meat tartare tasted fresh, but it seems that the flavour of the crab in the risotto seems to be missing.

Using the Wagyu shoulder, the meat is quite lean similar to filet mingon. Low in fat but tender and juicy. Cooked to medium rare and accompany with foie gras with shallots and portobello mushrooms. The beef jus that accompany the dish was just perfect. Delicious.

Service is good and efficient. The décor of the restaurant is very minimal, however it is bright, spacious and cosy. Rather than charge you for decoration, they decided to pass the savings to the customers by keeping the price low.

Overall, we really enjoy our meal here. Concetto interpertation of Italian food is more towards simple, modern, nice presentation and pack of punch. Kudos to them for bringing the food people. Cheers!!

Concetto comprise of 2 levels, but for the selfie-takers, the upper level provides more light to the interior, giving you a fairer picture. With such a generous shop space, even if there's a queue ahead, turnover time should be fast. If you are one of those whom rather spend time more meaningfully than waiting in a queue, Concetto gives you the privilege to make reservations!
I went for the 3-Course Lunch ($20.90) which surprisingly is not just affordable but good-to-taste! Concetto Pasta ($6.90 ala-carte) is made of chilled capellini tossed in lobster oil and seaweed, served with crab and shrimp tartare, and finished with lobster foam and ikura. While it is just an entree dish, it does open my appetite and awaits for more the main dish to come!
Had wanted the Beef Oyster Blade as my main, but was told that it has removed from the set lunch. Not sure why, but I had the Kurobuta Pork Cheek ($15.90 ala-carte), substitute for Beef Oyster Blade.
With the 3-4 pieces of pork cheek, I love every singly bit of it. Soft and sauce absorbing meat makes me kept on chewing non-stop on it, but at the same time the amount of disappointment falls greater on me as it get lesser and lesser on my plate. Served with homemade potato gnocchi and anchovy squid ink puree.
Ordered another main from the ala-carte, Red Snapper ($13.90). Red snapper fillet served with pan-roasted cherry tomatoes, mashed cod and lemon-infused paprika jus. Snapper meat is flak-ky and tender, but I find this dish a little sour, perhaps due to the cherry tomatoes. Not to my liking, but I still prefer my Kurobuta Pork Cheek!
The 3rd course, Pistachio Panna Cotta ($6.90 ala-carte), which is also the dessert. Pistachio-flavored cream served with pistachio crumble and salted pistachio. Texture is like the soya beancurd, the popular brand that we all know of, and pretty enjoyable. A nice dessert to end the course!
Definitely worth the money, but serving time is a little slow although we don't see the crowd. I believe Concetto will continue to attract masses of young people, in addition to its location where it’s surrounded by malls and academics. If you are in town, and looking for an affordable westernized food, Concetto can be one of your choice!

had lunch with a friend at concetto by saveur at the cathay on 10.2.2015. i had a nice 4pax family dinner here recently on 18.1.2015.

my friend ordered the concetto pasta & the kurobuta pork cheek, plus a ice lemon tea. i ordered the S$20.90 3-course set lunch + S$1.50 for ice lemon tea. i picked the concetto pasta, beef oyster blade & as the server recommended, the pistachio panna cotta.

the concetto pasta was a chilled capellini with crab & prawn tartare (tiny morsels) tossed in lobster oil & topped with lobster foam & ikura (salmon roe). it’s a very tasty appetiser though i was less blown away as the last time. perhaps some truffle oil? but maybe cannot mix too many ingredients. the lobster bisque made it very flavourful already.^^

i had the 36hr sous vide beef oyster blade. beef was tender & consistent. it was not sinewy like a braised beef dish. still i thought taste was bland & lacking, and still basically a braised item c/w very flavourful grilled steaks. i am not sure if the beef was charred first before sous vide-that should add some flavours. there was french mustard with seeds layered on top, and the coffee soil provided some taste when taken together.

overall i would think the kurobuta or the duck confit would be better.

my friend had the braised kurobuta pork cheek with gnocchi. i had this the least time. the kurobuta was flavourful & tender, very good. between duck confit (which was also very good) and kurobuta i would take kurobuta.^^

the last time we had the dark chocolate tart. i asked the younger server (she just finished A levels & waiting for results). she recommended the pistachio panna cotta. good recommendations!

i thought this was a very good dessert. it was not the flavourful panna cotta we had at tremezzo lake como, but it was a very good one, & the plus over the plain one (even a very good one at tremezzo) was that this came with pistachio crumble & salted pistachio. i also tasted strong black pepper flavours which strangely made the whole combination really nice! i would order this panna cotta again if i dine here next time!^^

daughter wanted to buy 4pax family dinner again & brought us to this happening place concetto by saveur at The Cathay on 18.1.2015.

i must say i am very pleasantly surprised, far exceeding my expectations. ^^

we had a reservation were there early at 6pm & were among the first few customers, but the place filled up quite quickly.

we ordered 2 appetisers & 4 mains/pastas to share. i liked everyone of them! ^^

the caesar salad was very good, not too creamy, nice bacon tips & overall flavours especially enhanced by the grilled octopus.

the chilled capellini, crab & shrimp tartare, lobster foam & ikura lagi best. i can have this all by myself, excellent lobster foam, wonderful flavours, texture & looks.

funghi risotto was very good, a good restaurant standard, intense aroma and taste.

i like the crab risotto even better than the funghi.

& i am usually not so hot on duck confit but this was good, nice crispy skin & tender, soft meat, not sinewy which was often with braised meat & some duck confit, the reason braises are not my favourite. i liked also the pesto tagliatelle, though pesto can be overpowering if taken much, but this was an excellent accompanying portion.

the kurobuta pork cheek with gnocchi was another pleasing dish. i liked the tender & flavourful pork & also the gnocchi.

we had a dark chocolate tart to share. nice too. deconstructed.

the bill for 4pax include 1 glass of wine (S$6) was $107 about S$27pax nett, a perfect family evening out, nice food & ambience.

food was mostly better or as good as petite menu, which my daughter said was now closed, and some chef had gone on to start portico a new eatery. i guess that would be our next family go to place to try out.

After dinner, I was still a tad hungry so we went to Concetto nearby to share this frutti de mare ($14.90), which was the chef's recommendation. A fairly sizeable place with an industrial chic interior, Concetto sees queues during dinner time, especially on Fridays and Saturdays. Numbers are taken by an IPad near the entrance. Online reservations are possible too at least a day in advance. The menu features mostly pastas, a few main meat courses and some desserts.

Crab Risotto ($12.90)

The Crab Risotto came with crab meat and rice crackers. The sweetness of the crab meat seeped into the risotto, giving the dish a seafood flavour. The rice crackers provided a crunchy texture and there was also a kind of cheesy aftertaste. Definitely a new flavour.

The consistency of crunchinesss, with the vegetables still reminded me of gruel somehow. I was alright with it, though my dining companion didn't appreciate the cheesy aftertaste.

Duck Tortellini ($12.90)

The Duck Tortellini comes with a nicely poached egg, new potato (refers to baby potato?) and Parmesan emulsion. These resembled 5 pieces of oversized wantons (chinese dumplings), difference being the 'skin' is actually pasta. For the filling, shredded duck meat was used. Interesting yes, but this wasn't impressive. I would suggest getting something else instead unless you are craving for duck wantons.

The food here is more of mod-italian style. Interesting, though they could do more to up the flavours of the dishes to make it memorable. Nevertheless, the pricing is still, competitive and is a good option for those looking for an affordable yet nice casual dining environment. If you do not have to queue for an hour that is.

First up is the drink-Shirley Temple ($3 only), that a few of us couldnt resist not to order, because it’s really much cheaper than outside, but probably it is more soda-like than usual. It’s my first time drinking too, so cant really comment on the difference. Here’s a few mains that we ordered. Crab Risotto ($12.90), Duck Tortellini ($12.90), Creamy Pork ($9.90) and Beef Oyster Blade ($15.90). So among all these dishes, personally i ordered the crab risotto. It’s creamy, flavourful, tasty but a lil to the salty side though. Chunks of crab meat and crispy rice crackers gave the dish another taste and mouthfeel. Another dish that i tried was Duck Tortellini. It’s basically duck wrapped in the tortellini with poached egg and parmesan emulsion. The duck fillings were not too stingy, i can really see and taste the duck pieces. How do i describe it more aptly, hmm, meaty? haha! yes, probably that will be the word. But i thought that the skin of the tortellini might be a lil too dry to my liking. It’s really not easy to cook tortellini well in my opinion. I’ll recommend Concetto if you want to try something different at affordable prices!

Recently a new outlet by Saveur has replaced the space that used to be occupied by Billy Bomber. The place is simply decorated with cement floor, cement seat by the wall and plain white chair. We have our choice of table at 6pm, but the restaurant is quickly filled up to the max. Menu is a simple piece of paper, divided into the following sections : Earth (for Everything of the Earth), Land (for Vegetables & Meat), Seas (for Fish & Shellfish), Light (for Light Taste & Light-Hearted) and Water (

For starter, we shared Tuna ($8.90) from the Earth section of the menu. It is pan-seared salt, black and white sesame seed encrusted tuna, served with radish, beet roots, baby romaine and honey mustard sauce. It quite a light and refreshing starter.

This is quickly follows by the rest of the dishes, which the small table has quite a problem of accommodating all the dishes. I feel that the staff should wait for us to finish the starter before serving the main courses. I feel a bit of been force to rush through the meal in order to free up space for the rest of the plates.

The Crab Risotto ($12.90) from the Seas section of the menu is a chef's recommendation. It is served with the crab meat in a spoon and tiny bites of crispy rice cracker doted it on top. Look quite a small amount in the big bowl. Taste quite creamy, but the grains tastes a bit undercook to me.

From the Land section of the menu, we have

The Creamy Pork ($9.90) which is handmade fettuccine in flavoured cream sauce, topped with sous vide egg, served with confit pork. The pasta is tender and delicious. The pork is tender but does not the melt in the mouth feel.

Pumpkin Fattottini ($7.90) which is another chef's recommendation. It is handmade Fattottini with pumpkin marmalade, brown butter & sage, topped with cheese and raisins. The pasta is also well made here. The pumpkin pasta is quite soft and sweet, making it feel more like a dessert. Overall it reminds me of bread pudding.

Overall the dishes are not bad, the flow of serving the dishes need to improve more.

Just nearly a year ago, Saveur opened at Far East Plaza to much hype. Menu is divided into several sections; Earth is the name given for appetisers, land for main courses containing meat such as pork or beef, sea for fish/seafood and light for desserts. Creamy Pork ($9.90+) is part of the "Land" menu, which is your typical cream-based pasta accompanied with a slab of roasted pork by the side. The roasted pork was crispy and tender; easy to pull apart and carried a savoury touch to the pasta. Tagliolini was used as default for the dish and it was cooked al-dente. The cream sauce was thick, but however tipping towards saltiness which made the pasta hard to finish. A sous vide egg is also served for this dish, which is all runny and makes it fun to eat.

The same cannot be spoken about the Prawn Aglio ($9.90+). By description, this is supposed to taste similar to the Saveur Pasta served at Saveur, with the exception of the Angel Hair pasta replaced with Tagliolini. The final end product however differed quite a bit as it tasted much like Mee Pok tossed in chili oil with a few prawns served alongside. The prawns somehow also left not much an impression to be remembered.

I decided to try the Duck Tortellini ($11.90+). Literally an Italian form of wantons, Tortellini are pastas with ingredients wrapped inside. Minced duck meat was used, and Parmesan reduction tops the Tortellini. The duck was somewhat savoury, but the Parmesan reduction though light made the dish salty overall yet again, which was not really a pleasure to eat. The Sous Vide egg appears again in this dish, which was perfection with the well grilled and spiced potatoes at the side.

For dessert, we went for Pistachio Panna Cotta ($6.90+). There was a subtle hint of Pistachio that is hidden in the green-coloured mousse, however the dark crumbs were again way too salty and overwhelmed the flavours of the mousse. While the light coloured crumbs did provided the crunchy texture to provide a contrast, it tasted too bland with no flavour at all.

The service was also a bit problematic, as a wait staff seemed to be more comfortable passing spoons to patrons rather than laying them on the table. We also received the wrong change as well when paying up. Another wait staff also did not ask us if we would like to have the dessert first or later, but ended up having it served before the main course.

Concetto charges 10% Service Charge but no does not charge for 7% GST

Italian? Instead of their usual specialty French cuisine, Concetto has an Italian twist to its dishes on the menu. Many attractive dishes on the menu without heavy price tags. Interestingly, they separated the different dishes into elements - Earth, Land, Seas, Light and Water. Tip: Order a few dishes to share with your fellow diners on the table so you can try a bit of each rather than have one on your own - as it might get a little overpowering in itself.

Grilled Octopus
The grilled octopus was accompanied by anchovy dressing and fennel salad. A slight hint of tangy lemon and enticingly wasabi-like (minus the spicy), this appetizing dressing made the chewy octopus and salad pop into character. Lovely and recommended.

Pumpkin Fagottini
Urban city has given a bad name to a this little bread parcel called fagottini. Drizzling a good dose of sweet sauce over creamy pumpkin, cheese and almond, this plate tasted more like a dessert than a main. A little confused, but nevertheless, it's a delightful try as pumpkin is once again, cooked to its best form. Rarely would I like pumpkin, but I give trust to the chefs here.

Black Risotto
Risotto's got its black from squid ink. This is very thick, moist and gooey. A little on the salty side, I cannot imagine finishing this on my own - so share it for a good taste. The squids are very chewy and fresh, though slightly overpowered by the saltiness of the risotto itself.

Tiramisu
A deconstructed tiramisu here, as Concetto/Saveur never fails to impress with their dessert presentation and flavours. The taste of rum is almost non-existent, which may or may not be a good thing depending on your preference. The sweet chocolate flakes make it look so grand. And the whole thing is edible, so dig in.

Concetto also has their own herbs garden, and prides itself for being eco-friendly. A wonderful experience here. Situated at where Billy Bombers was, Concetto is easily spotted from the outside of The Cathay.
