Angmokia discovered this place on one of the websites we subscribe to and i can say im very very impressed with the setting of the place! I think it used to be olive restaurant which i had been to many years ago and wah.. they have transformed this place to look so chillout and high class looking with dark wood interior and orange mood lights and candles.. A really good place for guys who wants to bring a girl for a private date. =) I felt like i was in bali... lolA nice touch was a free bread basket with sesame butter (YUM!) and free sampler which u can see in the picture.. its a fine dining place nonetheless and they take great care in presentation of the dish as u can see... The veg roots salad was the cheapest started at $12 and its quite refreshing and healthy.. made with beet roots, carrots, sweet potatoes in a light dressing.. The angmokia loves cheese so he took a risk with the watermelon and feta cheese thing which turned out to be perfect for him! I saw the grilled watermelon on the menu and thought.. umm pay $18 for watermelon? no way.. lol.. but when we saw the huge chunk of feta i can understand why.. but if u r not into it dun take this coz it can be a bit overwhelming.. we like this flower looking like thing in this dish and the beef dish which was marinated garlic.. very pretty presentation and yummy and tasty! the garlic was soft n well marinated.. I had the crispy skin sea bass which was very good quality and a generous chunk of fish.. the cream was supposed to be salty egg yolk but the taste was pretty subtle.. tasty healthy dish! Overall.. we loved the setting but for the price it was alright for the food..nice presentation but wasnt the kind that compels me to go back. continue reading

Another nite of restaurant week, at Eco Gourmet Cafe, $35++ per person. The place is a long and sweaty walk from the Labrador Park mrt station. We have a view of PSA building from our table.Foie Gras & Scallop - Pan Seared with sliced brie cheese, wine reduction : The foie gras tastes abit too well done.Cauliflower Veloute - Garnished with curry caramelized cauliflower, black seasame ice cream and curry oil : It tastes half sweet, half salty => like half black seasame paste and half cauliflower soup.Squid Ink Risotto - Cooked down together with basil, served with miso broiled cod, pickled ginger flower : The risotto is a bit too uncooked for me, as some of the grains are still abit hard to bite.Lamb Loin - Pan seared, olive & green onion crusted, tomato confit and a Madeira mint reduction : The lamb is cooked just middle well done – juicy and soft.Bailey’s Tiramisu - Mascarpone whipped with baileys on coffee soaked biscuits, coffee cream and sprinkle with chopped almonds : Hardly tastes any baileys. As night falls and we both of us have a hard time to enjoy the candlelit alfresco ambiance with the cool breeze, as we are getting bitten by mosquitoes. continue reading

I had the pork rillette to start off. The rillette was pretty much like a pate, quite fatty but very good when eaten with some baguette. Also had their beef with confit shallots & French fries. This was pretty much a seared steak & done to a perfect medium rare, as requested. The fries were light &crisp also the shallots were tasty,I wouldn’t mind coming back here for a very good value lunch & nice ambience Overall i rate 8/10 continue reading
