The very first time I tried Kueh Pai Tee as a kid was at Goodwood Park hotel's high tea and I would keenly look forward to making my own Kueh Pai Tee every time I go there. I had the chance to try this Kueh Pai Tee stall at Singapore Food Festival. It comes in a disposable container of 3 and is topped up with a slightly spicy tomato-based sauce. The stewed turnips were also cooked just right and not too soggy, making for a great snack that I can easily finish up in one bite. =D

After shopping at 112 Katong, we decided to have a drink and a light snack at the upstairs Food Republic. I am surprised a lot of the stalls in this food court have closed down. After shopping at 112 Katong, we decided to have a drink and a light snack at the upstairs Food Republic. I am surprised a lot of the stalls in this food court have closed down. I decided to settle for a Popiah.

Popiah also know as a spring roll but not the fried version. It is a kind of wrap which is filled with shredded Yam beans, cucumber, hard boiled egg crumbles, and sprinkle of chopped peanuts. The skin is first lay down and a spread of sweet black sauce and if you like it spicy you can request for chili paste to be added. the vegetable mixture is added and roll up in a little oblong shaped roll. Then the server cut the roll up into 5 portion.

This stall popiah is not bad and has cucumber and peanut to gives a crunchy texture. It cost $2 a roll. It is nice and light healthy snack.

Average cost/pax : $2
Ambience : Normal food court ambience. Busy during lunch hour, quieter after that. Airconditioned.
Service : Fast delivery upon payment. Friendly staff.
Portion : Their standard is consistent with the Parkway Builders / Hawker Centre. Tastes great but those not a fan of the after-garlic taste may not like it. I've ordered direct from the factory for home party consumption before. One of the best popiah in my opinion.
Location : Katong I12 previously known as Katong Mall to some of us 80s/90s people has upgraded their carpark and there's usually many lots there (except weekends) , make sure you enter by East Coast Road, and not the TGIF side, the guards will re-route you or tell you no entry.
What's good in particular : Tasty
What's bad in particular : A bit costly but you get what you pay for.
