Just in Blk 155 of Bukit Batok Street 11 alone there are 2 well known Prawn Mee stalls. Often I get confused which stall sells the best hokkien mee as their reputation has been around since my school days. While some says the Fried Prawn Mee from Yong Xing's Coffeeshop is better and the others say the reverse. Having tried both, I would say that in general they tasted above average and both have their unique selling point.Being new to Bukit Batok area, I was unaware of such crowd during breakfas

Being new to Bukit Batok area, I was unaware of such crowd during breakfast timing on a Sunday morning. The coffee shops seating were fully occupied and with queues lined up at almost every stall. If not for the "no queue scene", the usual me would not have Prawn Mee as a choice of breakfast as I find that it was quite a heavy meal for me. Hence, I got the smallest available portion at $3.50.

There was a good balance of gravy, with yellow and white noodles well mixed in an acceptable taste of prawn stock. Signature's baby squid was included and fried together with eggs, enhancing the sweet taste of the prawn stalk. On the other hand, the belachan chilli that was tucked at the side of the place had complemented the dish well.

The plate of Mee doesn't have the WoW factor but overall taste was definitely better than most markets.

My first reaction when I saw my fried baby squid prawn mee ($5) was 'where is the Opeh leaf?'. Apparently, they only serve it on noodle costing more than $5. The noodle came in three different sizes, $3.5, $5, and $8. There is no 'wok hei' in the noodle, not so much the style that I like. It was supposed to be an award winning dish though.

The bee hoon and noodles were very fine and smooth and they were packed with flavours from the gravy used to cook the hokkien mee. The prawns and squids were fresh too but the squids tasted a little tough and they were more of normal squids. The chilli tasted more sweet than spicy. Price: $5 portion - meant for sharing unless you've got a really huge appetite!

Prices for this hokkien mee start from $3.50. I ordered the $5 portion and it was really huge (2 people can share it). Their chilli is really yummy and only mildly spicy which makes you want to spam lots of it. For the $5 portion, there was 4 small prawns already peeled for you and some squids, most of which were not baby squids though. There is also another hokkien mee stall around the corner which tastes somewhat like this stall too.

I have been eating their hokkien mee since I was a child. It brings back a lot of old memories. Their hokkien mee range from $3.50, $5 and $8! and it is self-service. I remember it was used to be order and they will served to you.I take-away their $5 noodles and it was packed in a banana leaf! The portion is for 2 people. It has three large prawns, a few squids and eggs. The noodles may looks dry, but they are moist and full of seafood aroma! The chilli are sweet not spicy as it looks. STRONGLY
