Styled as a casual Western dining cafe, the main draw at Hot Tomato Cafe & Grill is their incredible value for money prices, moreso if you're a student. Founded in January 2006, Hot Tomato Cafe & Grill oftern draws crowds, and not just students, but those looking for a decent meal. Their grills, especially their steak, is on par with, and sometimes better, than several other high end steakhouses!

Ambience at Hot Tomato Cafe & Grill is simple, with colours of white and orange red against wood panelling. Tomato decor abounds, and the overall feel is loud and garish, like a cheap diner. For me, ambience here is a low point, like a visual assualt when sitting within. Overall cleanliness is also a minor point, you tend to get fast food style cleaning, which leaves little specks on the table or floor.

Service at Hot Tomato Cafe & Grill varies from decent, to poor. Staff are welcoming and friendly, but as they're mostly young part timers, the manner in which they speak to you tends to be rather to the point. On 1 occasion, I even had staff asking me to settle the bill before I was even served my main course! When all goes well though, service is rather average, and though orders are served to your table, payment is self-service at the cashier.

Food at Hot Tomato Cafe & Grill is Western style, mostly combining pasta (spaghetti aglio olio), with grilled meat or seafood. And their grilled items do stand out, seared / grill to perfection nearly every time. I particularly like their beef steaks, and their salmon. Portions are large, and for the price you pay, about SGD $15 per person for 1 main course, it's more value for money than many other places.

The Ribeye Steak With Spaghetti Aglio Olio (SGD $14.90) features a 200gm beef ribeye steak, grilled to your liking. I got mine medium rare, and it was grilled perfectly, with a nice sear and char marks outside, yet moist and pink inside. Good beefy meaty taste, and the cut is also quite thick. The pasta is fragrant with the use of garlic, but a little too oily, and I wish they would have added some chili for heat. I loved the lettuce on the side, dressed in a tangy, sharp, bright citrus vinaigrette. Good value for money, highly recommended!

Was back to Hot tomato as I was pretty happy with the standard of the food during the previous visits. Moreover, they are rather affordable as compared to other western cuisine in the mall. This is one of the more affordable and decent pasta/western food joints here in Singapore. I like the aglio olio here, not exactly sure if it's cooked with olive oil which I think it is, the texture and the way it is cooked is just right for me, it's a little oily but I think it is just nice for my taste. The aglio olio serving is quite small so sometimes I would crave for more! However, it is not spicy at all, those who like it spicy may be disappointed with the aglio olio here. The dory fish a

The dory fish and grilled chicken with aglio olio are my usual favorites. I like the dory fish best. There is also a small serving of salad, enough for a satisfying and reasonably-priced meal. There are options to top up for a soup/drink too. This is a great place for friends gathering with decent food and reasonable prices.

Add an additional of $3.50++ to add soup of the day, garlic bread and drink to make it a meal. It is a bit out of the place to serve the garlic toasts on metal and toasts are not warm at all. The soup is a bit too watery.

Overall food is average. Prices is reasonable.

Anyway, I ordered the grilled chicken chop which costs around $10 after charges.
The grilled chicken was pretty good, so was the aglio olio - while the portion of the aglio olio was a little small, it was the perfect amount for me.
I love the terriyaki sauce which accompanied the grilled chicken, also the chicken was grilled well (not too hard, nor too soft).
I was able to finish the whole plate, including the veggies - maybe I was just too hungry.
This was not a bad dish after all!

If a restaurant can keep me going back more than twice, it is definitely of a certain standard and also pretty affordable (for a budget eater like me). Main Course + Soup of the Day + Garlic Bread + Drink + Cake (Top up of further $2.50++)

Soup of the Day (Tomato Soup): Sufficiently thick and on the sweet side, this tomato soup meets my basic expectations and could do better by being a few notches warmer. I would think that the upgrade is only worth it if you don't have your own water bottle and/or if you're feeling extra hungry.

Garlic Prawn with Cherry Tomato ($11.50++): Recently, I fell in love with tiger prawns and was on an active hunt for them and pasta. This one doesn't disappoint, except for the fact that the portion is a little small. The prawns are sweet and delicious, but could be a bit more juicy though. I'm hard to please, eh. The cherry tomatoes are lovely sources of moisture - otherwise there would be a mild risk of being too dry a dish. The linguine was cooked al dente, overall taste verdict for this dish is a thumbs up.

Service was polite and efficient, dishes were served within ten minutes of ordering.

It comes with a generous portion of salad , and the portion of the meat was beautifully grilled as the juices drip when you sink your teeth on it, optionally you can coat or dip with the bbq sauce for enhanced flavour. The aglio olio was nicely cooked and overall well ratio portioned between meat / pasta / greens (Photo looks like there’s little aglio olio, but it’s hidden underneath the meat and veggies!)

Pleasant dining experience and I would definitely bring my husband here the next time!

I usually gets the Mixed Grill “N” Aglio Olio ($11.90) which includes pork chop, teriyaki chicken, sausages and of course spaghetti. The pork chop serving is generous and grilled to perfection while it remains tender and juicy. The teriyaki chicken on the other hand is not their forte and taste quite plain and needs the sauce on the side to give it a better and stronger flavour. The sauce on the side compliments not only the meat but the sausages on the plate and personally I find the sausages too peppery thus with the sauce, it actually tones down the pepper taste and add some sweetness to it.

The aglio olio spaghetti is what makes me return to their restaurant. Some aglio olio spaghetti is really spicy and oily but Hot Tomato does it otherwise. Their spaghetti has a certain spice flavour to it without being too spicy and oily for my liking.

Here at this restaurant, they really have quite a wide range of food and drinks items to choose from their food menu. Without thinking much, I have chosen their fillet pasta as the price is reasonable and also recommended by my friends. The noodles are chewy and not soggy. The spices used in cooking it are also very fragrant and suit very well with the noodles. The fish meat is also fresh and soft too.

This Hot Tomato is quite prominent at the basement of 313. I always felt that the food at this restaurant is good and value for money. Their pricing are affordable yet the protions are resonable. Usually I will order their pasta with steak but I decided to order the Chicken Baked Rice this time around and I topped out for $3.50 for an additional of a tomato soup and an ice lemon tea. The chicken baked rice was chessy and appetizing. Tomato soup was tangy and delicious which I enjoyed it as well.

What I love about Hot Tomato Cafe is that their staff are all very friendly, giving diners a very welcoming feeling. The place has a variety of seats, from the booth, to regular tables and chairs, to round cushion filled cubicles. Their food seems better the previous time i visit in 2012. Now it's quite average. Main dish wise, their serving size was great. Reviews from my friends were all average, nothing to be excited about. I tried the carbonara, which was way too salty for me ): They can do better than this!
