First time contributing review via the app. Mat Noh can be found in a coffee shop off Lor Limau, pretty near the whampoa hawker centre. Popular with Malay diners, the specialty here is the crispy chicken. I was surprised with no queue on a Tuesday afternoon 1pm. I was just lucky, while taking my order, a small queue started forming. I ordered the standard 1 person set which comes with fragrant chic rice and a bowl of soup. I also topped up a fried egg and a bean curd. Total bill adding up to $4 only. Self service is the way to go here. The chicken is really on form, most importantly it's not dry inside, soft and slightly moist, the crispy bits also adds on the the bite.  The chilli and dark soy sauce mix is impressive as well, I finished two saucers of it. POWER chilli yet not overly spicy. A fantastic eat I must say. continue reading

For just $3, Mat Noh offers good value for money with its chicken rice. The rice is non plain rice and not too oily which is nice. The chicken is fried type and comes served with a little bit of the fritters. It goes well with its black sauce mixed with red ginger chilli, making it more sweet than spicy. I like the fact the chicken is not too dry and oily. The bowl of soup is quite average though. Road side coffee shop, despite being an old setup, it is a popular favorite with muslim friends and office workers in the area. despite being at a less than popular location, you will still see queues lining up during lunch time. Self service though. continue reading

First thing I had after being away from Singapore for nearly 2 weeks! Chicken Rice. Usually I would get Chinese Hainanese Chicken Rice cause it's just better than Malay's version. But I was told that this is the best Malay Chicken Rice ever. So I took the advice. The stall is located within a small coffeeshop. It was 12pm and there was already a queue. There were 2 makciks attending to the customers. You can see a huge pile of fried chicken stacking up along the window of their stall. It was a turn off for me actually. But nevertheless I was determined to give it a try. For only $3, the chicken rice was goooood. The chicken was still hot and I love how crispy it is on the outside but juicy and tender on the inside.. was goood fried chicken people! The rice was generous too. Warm and fluffy. Perfect combo no? Warm fluffy rice with juicy tender chicken. Just perfection. Oh it was soo good I tell ya!Oh yes.. Do remember to come earlyk, because they close early. I don't think they open during the fasting month too, just saying ;) continue reading
