As far as non-hotel Japanese buffets go, I had not harbored much hope for Momiji. I started with Oysters, Salmon Sushi Roll, Hana Maki , Salmon Sashimi and Crayfish Cold Tofu. The sashimi was rather fresh, and I loved the Salmon Sushi Roll that contained cheese as well. The oysters were delicious, especially the ones with the caviar sprinklings.

Then we had Chawanmushi with seafood - I took the one with the roe. The egg custard was nothing to rave about, but the seafood bits was rather generous.

Next, there were the Mentaiko Scallops - soft and delectable, made more so with the creamy lusciousness of mentaiko.

Restaurants and cafes alike have also started rolling out their festive specials just for you foodies this December!

To usher in Christmas, Momiji Japanese Buffet Restaurant has not only Extended their Oyster Festival to 31st Dec 2014, they have also included a spread of goodies to add on to the extensive range of buffet items!

If you have read my earlier review of Momiji Shabu Shabu, you will find that Momiji Japanese Buffet Restaurant is somewhat similar in style
This is because both comes under the Suki Group

Momiji Japanese Buffet Restaurant is conveniently located on the 2nd level of Revenue House and it is just a 5 mins walk from Novena MRT station .

Momiji is currently having a christmas special/ osyter festival promotion when we were there. We dine at the quiet branch at Revenue house, located at newton road. The oysters featured are prepared in 8 different ways. (only 5 kinds will be served during lunch buffet.) Such as Goma Oyster, Ponzu Oyster, Japanese Apple Dressing Oyster, Panko Fried Oyster, Miso Teppan Oyster, Lobster Mayo Yaki Oyster, OysterShabu Shabu and Hot Plate Oyster. The oyster promotion is happening now till the end of 2014. I personally like the goma, lobster mayo and mentaiko ones, really good.  Christmas items is available during this festive season such as Honey glazed turkey ham with mushroom sauce, Turkey ham tempura with nacho cheese, Baked salmon lasagna and Christmas log cake.

I'm impressed by the wide range of raw dishes with many kinds such as tuna, salmon, swordfish etc. There's even temaki (hand roll), chuka hotate (seasoned scallop) and many sort of makimono. There's shabu shabu, teppanyaki, fried and cooked food. FREE FLOW Sapporo beer is available at Momiji during specific timing. For dinner, it will be from 630pm - 730pm daily. Momiji is the first place I ever know which features DIY waffle. It was simple with the instructions stated clearly at the side. And 6 different kinds of Haagen Dazs ice cream to pick from. Overall, a value for money buffet for a wide spread of seafood.

Love Japanese Food as I get to eat a lot without feeling so guilty as most of the dishes serve in Japaneses cuisine is raw, steam or soup. We had so many Alaska crab legs, crab flesh has medium firmness and tasted sweet with a hint of sea taste(salt). Paper hotpot, clear and light tasting broth with thin slices of succulent pork and crunchy mixed vegetables (soup tasted sweet after the vegetables and pork are cooked). Limited servings of bake cheese lobster was the highlight of the meal, crusty

My friend promoted me about this Qoo10 coupon deal that was going on one evening. We were discussing where to celebrate a friend's birthday. The deal seems good: $29.90 for Japanese buffet and can have free flow of beer from 6.30 - 7.30pm. Upon arriving, we were told that we can only have the beer opened for us instead of taking as many as we want as stated. So okay, fine with us since we were there for the food. I can safely say this is one of the not so nice Japanese buffet I have ever eaten. Could have eaten at a hotel Japanese buffet with just a bit more of money.

We were really disappointed as we went around to get our food. True indeed we did eat a lot of salmon sashimi. A bit too much to the extent that was all we were eating because the rest of the food were quite normal. How much fried chicken can we eat?

And the promised Hokkiado crabs, don't get me started. There was only a small amount of the crabs available. Anyway they were okay to eat. But don't expect much.

Overall it is okay to eat there, but don't put too much hope to the food. Eat to fill up your tummy is okay.

But to feel satisfied..hmm..it really depends

Oh, one dish that was really bad was the tuna sashimi. It was all fishy and just tasted bad. Perhaps it was just our unlucky day. But for sure i am not returning to any Momiji buffet
