Ont Authentic Thai Cuisine is a place in our neighborhood for average standard thai foods. We went for dinner and ordered some of their signature dishes like tom yam soup, green curry chicken, thai fishcake and pineapple fried rice. All tasted just fine. The thai fishcake tasted a bit not too fresh. The tom yam soup was the better dish amongst all but pity is the prawns did not taste fresh. We are certain this is the only visit. continue reading

I was in the mood for Thai food and my friend got a deal voucher that can be used at this restaurant so we decided to have lunch there. I ordered the pineapple fried rice and the Tom yam soup. The Tom yam soup has the nice sourish hot taste which goes well with the pineapple rice. The ingredients in the soup also tasted fresh. The pineapple rice was so so only but it is serve with nice prawns continue reading

Was in the area and thought good idea to intro hubby to this Thai makan place. 1) Minced pork omelette - done ok and reminded me of how my mum cooks this still. 2) Sambal Kang Kong - very tasty and well fried. Best dish of the meal.3) Olive Fried Rice - this dish was ok only. Very forgettable sadly. 4) Sweet & Sour Fish - initially ordered this for my daughter but she didn't like the sauce so I had most of it. I actually found it ok, not bad at all. I have concluded that they have some hits and miss. Sad for us that it's more misses that day. continue reading

Ont Authentic Thai Cuisine is serving no-frills Thai dishes in the neighborhood. Though it is just a stone's throw from home and walked past a dozen times but never gotten a chance to try it as yet. The opportunity arrived when i acquired a voucher from Groupon. Made a reservation at 12:30pm on a weekday and when gotten there the shop was still empty. We decided to order a Lemon Grass Drink ($2.80), Tom Yum Prawn Soup ($8.00), Green Curry Chicken ($8.00), Thai Fish Cake ($6.00) and Pineapple Rice ($5.00).The Lemon Grass Drink was served first. First sip and i liked it, it was light and refreshing with a tinge of lemon grass.Second up was the Tom Yum Prawn Soup. The clear version of Tom Yum Soup managed to strike a balance in between spiciness and sourness with a pretty distinct taste of lime leave and lemon grass. It came with quite a few pieces of prawns and button mushroom. We enjoyed this pretty much. This followed by the Pineapple Rice. We were informed earlier that the serving is only for 1 pax but we felt it should be good enough to be share amongst 2 pax if ordered other dishes too. Ingredients like little pieces of pineapple and chinese sausage together with 2 pieces of prawns were found in it with a little pork floss scattered on top. We enjoyed it too.The Green Curry Chicken served next. It was a typical Thai curry dishes with green brinja, red / green chillies, basil leaves and chicken pieces. It tasted pretty alright and went well with the rice. The only disappointing dish has to be the Thai Fish Cake. It did not have a distinctive taste and can be quite boring to eat it on its own. It tasted better by dipped it in the dip that served along with it. If you have a craving for Thai dishes and not wanting to travel to town then this can be quite a good option. continue reading

Based on a email I received of a Groupon ad, I decided to check out this little Thai food establishment, located in Ang Mo Kio Ave10, before deciding to buy the coupon online. I also got a colleague of mine to come along. After walking around the estate for 5-10 minutes, and with the help of a stranger whom I asked for directions, I found the place, Ont Authentic Thai Cuisine! The staff were friendly and immediately offered us a seat. I proceeded to order the Clear Tom Yam Soup, Pandan Chicken and Thai Style Steam Fish. I was not sure of what to expect but the place had a homely, comfortable atmosphere which reminded me of some of the eateries in Thailand. The food arrived quickly and as we started to eat...I realized that their claim was true, this was honest to goodness, authentic Thai food . The Tom Yam soup, while mild-looking, had a strong kick and spicyness and a wonderful lingering taste of basil leaves and lemongrass..the aroma and taste was simply excellent! Kudos to the chef. A perfect blend of seafood, spices and other fresh ingredients! The Pandan Chicken came in a set of 4 pieces and was cooked just right and the meat was tender and juicy with the right blend of spices.I am quite particular about my fish and was skeptical at first, but the Thai Style Steam Fish was excellent....cooked just right and layered with Thai sauce sprinkled with garlic and parsley....delicious..a must try!To top it all off, we had the Mango with Sticky Rice, one of my all time favorite Thai desserts..indulgent...but so good. When the bill arrived, I realized the pricing was very reasonable and approx 30-40% cheaper than dining in a mall, and with no GST and no service charge included. Nice!In summary - a must try for anyone expecting a no frills, honest to goodness, authentic Thai meal that beats the upmarket Thai food restaurants in malls anytime. I also noticed they had a large selection of items in their menu to cater to different tastes and preferences of customers. I will definitely be back to try some of the other items. I would highly recommend this place to friends and family. continue reading
