Of course, besides sandwiches, The Moomba Tuck-shop does serve sides like salads, soups and an array of enticing desserts. We started off with the orangey chorizo-caponata pasta salad, served in a bowl and chilled. The slightly chewy fusilli matched well with the tender chunks of chorizo, a handful of olives and morsels of tomatoes and more. It was a thick concoction of goodness that was refreshing to the palate. Nevertheless, I guess it was a side meant to be shared because it is abet oily. continue reading

met a friend for lunch around raffles place and was looking for a new place we both didnt try before. Went to few food reviews website and found this-Moomba tuckshop! A rue hidden gem in the cbd area.. i have often walked past here but thought it looked expensive.. The great thing about this place is that it has seats outside for the alfresco feeling as well! The selection and variety is not great but its really a good place for quality sandwiched and good portions at afforadable plrices.. I had the thai chicken salad at full portion for $7.. which was filling for the amount of chicken! I often feel frustrated with the measley amount of salad around cbd at sky high prices.. We also took the sandwich platter filled with 6 mini sandwich samplers to try.. My frend doesnt like tuna so i took 2 becoz we had switched the beef one away.. good and felxible service i must say. While the tuna one and chicken one i tried was so-so, apparently the mushroom one my frend tried was good. The tuna was abit like seafood sandwich filling though. I can totally see myself coming back for more! But do take note.. the crowd and smallish interior may mean u have to take away or come at off peak hours! continue reading

The Moomba Tuckshop, located at the ground level of Bank of China Building offers fantastic sandwiches!Seafood on Dark Rye bread($9)You can opt for the bread- multigrain, brioche, onion & sage, spinach, walnut or dark rye bread. The ”seafood’‘ isn’t the usual prawns and squids but lots of blueswimmer crabmeat with marinated wakame and tobiko !The bread itself is a little dry and chewy but they were so generous with the crabmeat. The tobiko complement the crab very well & gives a crunchy texture. I tried to finish every morsel , leaving just a small slice of bread behind.Verdict: The place is very small, with limited tables inside. It was rather cramped and stuffy having food there , inhaling all sorts of funny smell from the kitchen. continue reading
