In my opinion, the coffee cake here is one of their best items. I'm not a big fan of cakes & pastries, so I'm rather selective when it comes to this category of food. If you hate chiffon cakes slathered on with a thick layer of cream that leaves a layer of oil on your tongue like I do, this coffee cake is nothing like that.
There is not much cream in this cake at all! The chiffon layers are thicker than most other cakes, and they are soft and light. The thin layer of cream between the chiffon has a deep coffee flavour, and doesn't leave any oil slick on my tongue. The amount of sweetness is just right, not extraordinarily sweet like other traditional cream-slathered cakes.
Even when there are no birthday events, I find the cake delightful enough to takeaway a slice for a snack or dessert. The generous amount of walnut and chocolate goes very well with the deep coffee flavour.Post
