Despite the recent sweltering heat we decided to pop by First Thai over the weekend. I knows it sounds kinda crazy, hot and spicy food on a hot hot 37 degrees Saturday afternoon. But I was craving for some Tom Yum Goong and we were around Purvis Street, hence we decided to sweat it out.

We ordered a Thai cuisine staple, Pineapple Fried Rice (S$7) which was mediocre at best. Nothing fantastic to make me wanna come all the way here for. It was rather dry and bland, and if I'm not wrong, it was basically rice with some raisins, pineapple, cashew nuts and pork floss.

We also had the Thai Green Curry (S$8) which was one of the better dishes among the 3 items we had. It tasted rather authentic, especially the brinjal which soaks up the aroma of the basil leaves and curry. This green curry isn't overly spicy, and it did help moisten the dryness of the fried rice.

The tom Yum Goong (S$7) was really really spicy, or perhaps it could be the extreme heat outside deluding my impression of it. They were generous with their seafood and the bowl for one was crowded with sotong, slice fish and lots of mushroom. This bowl packs a potent punch of spice and heat!!
