Other than specially customised fondant cakes, Mad about Sucre also offers an exquisite selection of small desserts. The San Domingue ($12.80) is a dome-shaped chocolate mousse filled with caramelised plantain vanilla cream and topped with a rum-filled jewel box. Other favourites include the Coco Citron ($9.80), a lemon curd tart with coconut mousse. Note: Mad about Sucre launched their new Spring/16 menu on 16 Feb, so for regulars, be sure to drop by for some surprises in store!

Located among the hustle and bustle of Telok Ayer Street, Pantler is a Japanese-French style café that shines through in its subtlety. Part of their sweet selection includes Opera Cake, Ricotta Cheese Tart and Cassis Mont Blanc. But if you were to try just one creation, it has got to be the Yatsura, a dark chocolate and hazelnut cake.

Twenty paper-thin handmade crêpes are layered together with a light pastry cream and finished off with a caramelised golden top. This dessert has garnered fans such as Martha Stewart, so try it out to see if it suits your palate!

For those willing to shell out a bit more, head over to Henri Charpentier, an elegant French Japanese restaurant tucked away on Dempsey Hill. Their signature Crepe Suzette ($22) is performance piece prepared in front of the diners. Liqueur is first poured over the crepes and flames ensue. They are then doused and cooked with a rich butter and orange juice sauce. Other flambé desserts include Dome ($29), a chocolate sphere, which is available only in Singapore.

Now located in SOTA, you can look forward to nibbling on dainty Japanese-inspired French mousse cakes in various light and refreshing flavours, along with cups of intriguing tea brews like Tokyo Skytree Apple Tea. With a pretty shade of sakura pink, Nao ($9.80) is a strawberry mousse cake with a pistachio cream centre.
