Going gluten-free – whether by choice or not – can be tough, seeing that gluten is present in tons of common and nutritious food. Supermarkets such as Cold Storage, NTUC Fairprice, JASON’S and The Market Place do carry gluten-free products on their shelves but if you’re looking for an even wider range, try these five retail and online stores.

What is Gluten?

Gluten is a protein found in grains such as wheat, barley and rye. It is also present in food items like soy sauce, pasta and bread. People who are gluten-intolerant have celiac disease, where gluten causes an inflammation in their small intestines when consumed.

For those with special dietary needs, look out for SuperNature’s specialty icons that signal for gluten, nut, dairy, wheat or egg-free products. Open 24 hours daily, Mustafa Centre is great for late-night grocery shopping sessions and their wide range of gluten free products ranging from pastas, nut butters, vinegar, coconut oil, quinoa, grains, lentils, coconut milk to pre-mixes. Aiming to provide the best allergen-free shopping experience, GoGlutenFree only stocks products they have tried and tested themselves. Aside from purely gluten-free products, most products are also free of allergens such as dairy, casein, eggs, soy, shellfish.
