2010-08-19
Hey OpenRicers, noteworthy this year from Goodwood Park Hotel is the Almond Beancurd with Longan giant snowskin mooncake (Price: S$11 per piece), a 12-cm snowy white creation that is a tribute to the well-loved Chinese dessert. Here, the chefs have created a gem that looks and tastes unique; and most significantly, it commemorates the hotel’s 110th anniversary this year.
Almond Beancurd with Longan Giant Snowskin Mooncake (Goodwood Park Hotel's 110th anniversary commemorative mooncake creation)
Taking inspiration from the popular Chinese dessert, Executive Pastry Chef Lim Kim Wah and his team have created a 12-cm masterpiece which is outstanding in looks and balanced in flavours. Smooth almond beancurd paste is complemented with juicy longan bits that add texture. Engraved with the Chinese words for ‘Goodwood Park’s Anniversary Celebration’, this exclusive mooncake will be presented in an elegant gold silk drawstring pouch which is perfect as a luxurious gift for family, friends and business associates. The other new creation is Apple Caramel snowskin mooncake (Price: S$24 for two pieces; S$42 for four pieces) which is a refreshingly light addition to the current collection of fruity snowskin varieties of Mango with Pomelo, D24 Durian Paste and Cempedak Paste.
Apple Caramel Snowskin Mooncake
Containing chunks of fresh and caramelised green apple amid green apple puree, this creation is a welcome zesty treat for Singapore’s tropical weather! A hot favourite since 2008, the Mango with Pomelo in Snowskin Mooncake (Price: S$24 for two pieces; S$42 for four pieces) has garnered loyal fans with its smooth mango puree with mango cubes and pomelo sac. Inspiration was drawn from an all-time favourite dessert at Min Jiang – Mango with Pomelo and Sago. Next up is the D24 Durian Paste in Snowskin Mooncake and Cempedak Paste in Snowskin Mooncake! (Price: S$28 for two pieces; S$50 for four pieces). Every bite of these mooncakes is filled with the thick paste of D24 durians or Cempedak, specially selected for their sweetness and thick creamy pulp. A true celebration of the tropics! Of course, purists who are fans of handcrafted traditional baked mooncakes will love Goodwood Park Hotel's five lotus seed paste varieties – Lotus Seed Paste with Melon Seeds; Lotus Seed Paste with Double Yolks; Lotus Seed Paste with Four Yolks; Assorted Nuts with Ham and White Lotus Seed Paste with Double Yolks.
