Check out these fun-filled happenings all around the country from September to October! Chinatown Mid-Autumn Festival 2012 @ Chinatown area, various locations Sep 16–Oct 14 Probably one of the biggest celebrations in Singapore, the Chinatown Mid-Autumn Festival is set to be a feast for the senses. Catch the street lanterns and pyrotechnics display, lantern-painting competition, and of course the street bazaar with hundreds of stalls selling delicious goodies. Takashimaya Mid-Autumn Festival @ Ngee Ann City Takashimaya Shopping Centre Aug 31–Sep 30 Pleasure those taste buds at the Takashimaya Mid-Autumn Festival. Choose from the dazzling array of mooncakes and festive confectionaries, from the conventional to the unusual. Lantern Decoration-Cum-Tea & Mooncake Appreciation @ Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden Sep 29, 10–11.30am $30 per child This one’s for the kids. Have a nice day out and take them to Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden, where you can join them in a special lantern-making session using plant materials. After, you can sit around and sip on tea and indulge in mooncakes with them. Mooncake Baking Classes @ Bake King, Block 10 Haig Road, #01-363 Sep 15, 2.30–5.30pm; Sep 22, 10am–1pm; Sep 23, 10am–1pm $93 (for traditional mooncakes) & $103 per session @ Phoon Huat, Block 432 Clementi Avenue 3, #01-284 Sep 3–15, 7–10pm on Monday, 1.30–4.30pm & 7–10pm on Tuesday¬–Friday, 1.30–4.30pm on Saturday $55 per session Bake your own mooncake instead of buying into the craze. At Bake King, learn the art of making durian, cheese and walnut mooncakes, and at Phoon Huat, create cheese mooncakes with sesame and melon toppings from scratch. Moonfest - A Mid-Autumn Celebration 2012 @ Esplanade Sep 28–30 If you’re into the cultural aspect of festivals, be sure to visit Moonfest at Esplanade. With traditional Chinese performances, interactive workshops and enlightening talks, you can celebrate this Mid-Autumn Festival a little differently this year.
