What Rulin says: I found this Hari Raya snack, called the Frambozen Kenari, at the Geylang Serai Bazaar. It is actually a butter cookie with layers of meringue and blackcurrant jam, which makes it sweet, chewy, and crunchy at the same time. I find it rather addictive as they are in bite sized pieces, which makes it so easy to pop one into your mouth!
Price: $16 per container

What Sijia says: The Vadai originates from South India, and is a hot favourite among Muslims. You can choose from a variety of flavours such as vegetable, prawn or medu, with prawn being the most popular choice. The large crunchy donut fritters go best with green chilli, so if you are a fan of spicy food, be sure to try your vadai with green chilli in a single bite!
Price: $2.50 for 3

What Adeline says: The Thai Coconut Ice-Cream is the perfect balm to the bustling crowds and crazy sauna-like atmosphere that is the Ramadan Bazaar. Served in a coconut shell, you have the choice of getting additional toppings. Can’t beat the real deal at BKK, but I think this is as close as it gets.
Word of advice? Get your own serving of ice-cream - else don’t complain when your friend hogs the dessert.
Price: $4

What Brandon says: At first glance, it may remind you of a "ba zhang" (Chinese dumpling), albeit a flattened one - but it tastes nothing like it! The unassuming Kuih Lopes consists of very simple ingredients - during preparation, the glutinous rice is wrapped with banana leaf to cook. Following which, it is garnished with grated coconut and drizzled with gula melaka (palm sugar) syrup when served. Sweet and savoury at the same time, you wouldn't know what just hit you!
Price: $2 for 3 pieces

What Wen Qing says: I was super excited to see fried ice cream rolls, a new hit at Thai bazaars, at our very own Geylang Serai Bazaar. Watching them fry the ice-cream is part of the experience – chopping, spreading it out, and then chopping again – the dedication of the vendors to make sure the flavours seamlessly blend together into a concoction of smooth, tasty ice cream was impressive. It’s a good snack to combat Singapore’s weather, especially if you’re visiting the bustling bazaar during this festive period.
Price: $5

What Jescelin says: This pretty dual-coloured chocolate Swiss roll is a perfect example of a local confectionary with a modern twist. Right smack in the centre is a whole Ferrero Rocher that lends a crunch to each bite.
Price: $11 (small), $18 (big)

What Fiona says: What’s a night bazaar without Ramly Burgers, right?! You can probably see one of these Ramly Burger stalls every few metres at the Bazaar but hey, I’m not complaining. Going for about $3 or $4, these burgers consist of either a juicy chicken or beef patty doused in generous servings of mayonnaise, chilli and barbeque sauces then wrapped in egg omelette. Ah, that diet you were talking about? Yeah, that can wait.
Price: $3 (chicken), $3.50 (beef)

What Kaeting says: I spotted these at the Geylang Serai Bazaar next to the Thai Coconut Ice Cream booth. Craving something light, I decided to try it. These mini pockets filled with coconut and cream make such convenient snacks on the go. No mess at all. The pancake was fluffy and light, and because the tiny size of the pancake doesn’t overwhelm the filling inside, I could taste the coconut with every chew. Great to have after too much of fried snacks from other stalls.
Price: $1 for 3

11. Kebab Wrap

What Serena says: The kebab stall always entices me with the aroma of roasted chicken, and the ones at this bazaar are no exception – even if they are in a wrap! The tender, juicy meat with a dose of mayonnaise & chilli sauce makes it a perfect combination for me.
Price: $4

13. Takoyaki

What Anita says: These tako balls are served with mayo, which gives it a richer taste. Although we can get it at most shopping centres, it is also available at the Geylang bazaar – and it’s a snack not to be missed! Don’t forget to ask for cheese sauce, because that will make it taste even nicer.
Price: $3 for 5 pieces
(Image: Kaeting)14. Banana Fritters

What James says: It may be weird for some fruits to be fried, but the banana is definitely not one of them. The batter of the Goreng Pisang is crispy, light, and not too thick, while the banana inside is soft. This sinful version also comes with toppings of chocolate and cheese, creating a wonderful combination and a really great snack.
Price: $4

What Yi Wen says: I was instantly drawn to the words “Char Kway” whilst in the bazaar, half expecting a wokhei-heavy plate of char kway teow. Instead, what I saw was a row of thicker than usual dough fritters stuffed with seafood filling (I went for squid). Once deep fried till crisp, it comes served with a generous drizzle of mayo. Best enjoyed while it’s hot!
Price: $3
