Parmegiano Reggiano, which is made from cow’s milk, is the choice of cheese to complement your pasta and spaghetti. This is well-loved by many because it makes these dishes taste ten times amazing… like seriously. Just grate it and put as toppings and it will make your food cheesier and oh-so-good! Cannoli are Sicilian desserts made from fried dough which are rolled and stuffed with rich and creamy filling – usually of ricotta. Though the filling is rarely replaced, other alternatives to put inside the cannoli are the mascarpone cheese and custard. As the finale, it’s dusted with cocoa power on top. The soft and creamy texture is enriched with a strong espresso flavour, which many believe is the reason why this dessert is named as such.

What makes their pizza creations unique is the belief of making it as simple as possible. They only use a specific flour to make the dough; and for the ingredients – mozzarella cheese, tomatoes, and two other toppings.
6. Baked Ziti

A hearty Italian dish, ziti is similar to most pasta dishes in the way they are prepared. Ziti are boiled while the sauce made with tomato sauce, beef, and cheese are cooked separately. Once these are done, the ziti are placed in a casserole and layered with grated cheese and sauce. Then, it’s baked in an oven.
7. Osso Bucco

It may sound like a dessert, but this Italian dish is all meat. Osso Bucco, which is Italian for “bone with a hole”, is actually a Milanese dish which is made from a slab of veal shank. Though the meat around the bone is tough, the marrow has this melt-in-your-mouth texture when cooked right. Additional flavour is usually done by braising it with vegetables, white wine, and broth.

Ravioli is the kind where the dough is prepared into square shapes and then stuffed with filling – usually spinach. Traditional ravioli in Italy is usually prepared at home, but because of the growing popularity of this dish, you can find ready meals in most groceries and supermarkets.

Minestrone is the Italians’ answer for the cold weather in their country. This heart-warming soup is made with whatever vegetables are currently in season. You can say that this is a flexible dish because there are no fixed ingredients to prepare this. To make this a rather filling dish, pasta or rice is added.
10. Prosciutto (Parma Ham)

Prosciutto or parma ham is no ordinary slice of meat. First of all, the pig has to be bred in specific places in Italy and cured only around the regions of Parma. It’s been said that the weather conditions there give this meat a rather distinct taste. Once it’s cleaned, it’s salted and aged for months. As appetisers, the parma ham is sliced thinly and is served with bread and other condiments.
