Too crowded on a Friday night for good service
Smile 2013-04-19
Known as one of the places to get awesome pork knuckles, that fact simply cannot be disputed. I still frequent Brotzeit for their knuckles. Often, the portion is still too big for 2 to share. I just wish they had like a mini-version of it.

Tried the curry wurst, which was just a wurst with curry powder peppered on top of it. Nothing too impressive, and the wurst wasn't anything special, neither was it extremely yummy. Will definitely give this a skip. sad

Lighting was very bad because of the outdoor area. It is a very good idea to order cold beers, because of the humidity, and also because nothing goes better with such greasy food than beers! smile If you're lucky, there will be a live band playing, which only happened the one time I was there out of the three.

Earth Hour
Just OK 2013-03-26
Food

It was saturday and we had our earth hours in Brotzeit. They have off their lights and electricity leaving the essential lights on. This was the first time I had my meal at the second storey and also in the dark with aircons off. I was sweating

Ordered a regular glass of german beer. Paulaner is famous with their self make german beer which i always find it good to have during my visits there. It's not rough and moreover after a drink it is good to sleep easily.

Bigger glass of beer ordered by my friend. It was darker in color and the after taste was abit more bitter than the first picture.

The sauces for the sausages in the platter as mentioned by the waiter.

This $88 platter is more than enough for 4 pax. For the other table, i saw 7 army bowls sharing one platter. It consists different kinds of sausages (with cheese etc), pork cutlet and one big pork knuckles. Also We get to choose the 2 sides.

Another main and recommended dish to order is definitely the pork knuckles and this is what german cuisine is all about! Love the pork knuckles' crispiness. Heavenly though the skin is about rough and hard to bite. If you dip the meat into the sauce that comes with it, we will all want to go back again. the bad thing is that they did not have sauerkraut in the meal.

This is one of the sides that we have chosen. The other is the potatoes wedges which i find it very normal.

Service
Service is moderate.

Ambience
Like the open air windy dining area on the 1st floor. However perhaps it was earth hour that is why I was feeling quite hot with candles and no aircon. 2nd floor was more of pub resemblance.

Price
A enormous portion for me! Price not only tells us about how great the portion is but also their standard, qualities of food. I will rate them as reasonable pricing.

Beer is a must try

Friday Night Affensaft (Mango Beer)
Just OK 2013-02-28
I've heard a lot of rave about Brotzeit's German food and this is my first time trying it out. We went to the outlet at 313 on a Friday night and the place was packed and super lively! There were lots of expats having drinks at the alfresco bars along that back alley of restaurants.

   Brotzeit Platter

Anyway, after some deliberation we decided to order the Brotzeit Platter ($88) which comes with a variety of sausages, lam schnitzel, pork knuckle and 2 sides of your choice - we opted for the sauerkraut and fries.

   Pork Knuckle

The pork knuckle looked pretty impressive and huge. Its skin was so crispy such that you can probably still hear the crunch amidst all the live music and beer talk. I found it to be rather tasteless though, even with the sauce that they provided, the pork knuckle seemed less flavourful compared to the one I had at Aust Wine: Cafe & Wine Bar. The sausages were rather small too and the lamb schnitzel was just dry and tough. Well, perhaps German food is not exactly the kind of food that I fancy.

   Affensaft Mango Beer

My friends recommended me to try out their Affensaft ($12.50) which is basically a mixture of mango juice and German beer. You can even ask for more Mango juice if you want it a little sweeter. While it had a rather unique taste to it, I kinda prefer lychee beer if I want to go for something sweet.

Smile 2013-01-30

to be honest, this was just A LOT of meat.

The sausage platter option was good.
every single one was juicy and full on flavour.

The pork knuckle was satisfyingly crisp and
so dangerously fatty.
It's good but eat at your own risk.

The pork schnitzel I wish, could be thicker
but then that'd hardly be a schnitzel already.
it was good.
and the breaded exterior added for crunch. smile

SHARE it. please.

Pizza
Just OK 2012-07-29
If you are those who do not really like your pizza dough to be thick and compact in texture, then the pizza here at Brotzeit will be able to suit you. The pizza dough here is more towards the thinner version, which is almost like tasting a piece of crunchy biscuit or cracker. The cheese and the different types of ingredients topped on it are very fresh and fragrant. Overall was really not too bad except that the price of is it quite expensive and may not be suitable for everyone's budget.

Smile 2012-07-26
Brotzeit German Bier Bar & Restaurant is among the few restaurants in Singapore that serve authentic German / Bavarian food.
Their Sausage Platter is a good sampler of the various types of German sausages. There are 5 different varieties; a spicy chicken sausage (Huhnerwurst), a cheese pork sausage (Kasekrainer), a garlic pork sausage (Knoblauchwurst), a mix veal and pork sausage (Weisswurst), and a traditional pork bratwurst sausage (Nurnberger).

I love the food at brotzeit. Absolutely true blue german food can be found here! I love their sausages especially. The sausages are very juicy and tasty. It was stacked on top of potatoes. The potatoes were very well seasoned. Almost perfect i must say. Thinking of it made me wanna go back for more! Their German beer was fantastic as well. Smooth and nice. Service and food i give it close to a full mark!

Chicken salad
Smile 2012-05-06 (Related Review)
The chicken salad here has very beautiful presentation and the taste is equally impressive as well. Lots of fresh sliced lettuces, olive, sliced cheese and mini tomatoes can be found in it. There are three different types of dressing provided for this salad and is placed separately soitwill not directly affects the taste of the salad. The chicken is pan fried so it is quite crispy and fortunately not too oily as well. It tastes refreshing and filled with lots of nutrition and vitamins in it. I will come back for more of their other types of salads.

Steak in black pepper sauce
Smile 2012-05-05
If you love to eat beef dishes, the steak here at Brotzeit should impress you. One of my favourite dish will be their black pepper steak in hot stove. The steak is quite thick in texture and the meat is really tender, juicy and not too oily. Especially like the black pepper sauce on it which is really thick, sweet and with a little spicyness in it. The side dish, which is the mashed potato is also very smooth and soft in texture and full of the nice flavour from the butter. The whole dish is so tasty that you may even one to order another plate after you have completed this plate.

I'm not surprised to find this place to be packed with people during weekends.
My agenda here was for the beer of cause!
Food here was a typical pub price range but I guess.
ordered the ultimate meat dish (cant rmb the actual name)
but it has the best combi of meat ever.
one giant pork knuckle fried to juicy crispy perfection,
4 thick german sausages, and finally 2 large slabs of fried meat the side.

(German) Brotzeit As In, Bro-Zai-t.
Smile 2012-01-21
https://thechosenglutton.wordpress.com/2011/02/17/german-brotzeit-as-in-bro-zai-t/

A commonly mispronounced restaurant name, Brotzeit (bro-zait) German Bier Bar & Restaurant, got my friends and I to actually ask the waitpersons themselves what exactly the pronunciation is, and, voila, case closed. Before I went there, I’ve always wanted to give it a try, just because it looks so cool from the outside.

I still remember the first time I stepped foot in (the VivoCity outlet). It was after a long day, and thankfully, the ambience just made it better. It’s definitely a place for friends to chill over a table of german beer, sausages, platters, and well, maybe their famous pork knuckle. First time there, and not exactly for a main course, we ordered the Fischplatte.

Fischplatte ($36.50++) :: It’s a seafood platter, with a variety of smoked / pretty rare / raw fishes and seafood, and from what I know, not a lot of people out there are fans of these kind of platters. But for me, I am quite a huge fan (likewise for cold platters and the likes). It has smoked salmon, tuna, prawns – all of which are, I must say, pretty safe choices of fishes. The only more exotic one is the anchovies. I feel that it is a love-it-or-hate-it affair with the anchovies, particularly because of its saltiness. First bite down, second chew in, it might still be tolerable. But as it goes on, one might find it too salty to taste it independently. I was pretty much licking off the plate until half the anchovies were gone, then I couldn’t really go on anymore. But it was a good dish I must say – good for sharing, what with the basket of bread that comes with it. If you’re a gigantic fan of german sausages, you’re in for a treat, as they have a sausage platter, with basically, ‘all’ kinds of sausages.

Pork Knuckle :: This signature dish of theirs isn’t on their menu (I really have no idea why though). It’s in the mid-thirty price range, for a delectable, big portion of pork knuckle (it’s bigger than your knuckle, for sure). I shared it with my friend, and if you’re planning to have some desserts after the meal, I think it’s probably sufficient. I’ve tried Pork Knuckle at Brewerkz and Marche, I thought this is the best of the three.

Now comes my favorite part of the restaurant, weirdly enough. Haha – it’s desserts!

Schokokuchen (Warm Rich Chocolate Cake with Stracciatella Ice Cream) ($12.50++ ) :: Very ordinary cake, very ordinary ice cream. It was enjoyable as far as a dessert goes, but nothing special.

Kaiserschmarren (Shredded Pancake with Rum & Raisin with Plum Sauce) ($12.50++) :: I tell you, this tastes SO much better than it sounds. It doesn’t appeal to me at first because of the plum sauce, but little did I realize that the plum sauce was actually the best thing that happened that night. My friends and I ordered the previously mentioned dessert on top of this. After finishing both, guess what, we were so addicted to this (I bet they sprinkled some-, I mean, a lot of MSG over the dessert) we ordered another plate of it. That is after our main course & these desserts, mind you. I don’t know, but the pancake, rum & raisin and the plum sauce go SO well together it’s like they’re made for each other from the day they were born. No exaggeration. But of course, this is my very personal opinion. It’s just, surprisingly good. I know that I’ll definitely not be giving it a miss the next time I give Brotzeit another visit (probably to get a taste of their german sausages, as it should be for a german restaurant).

Impression on Brotzeit Very nice, unique though confusing restaurant name. Always somewhere nice to chill after work, after a long day, with your date, with your friends. Dim lighting. Very neat and furnishing – the benches, the high stools. And at least an average to above average food. Worth trying.

Dory Fish @ Brotzeit
Smile 2012-01-12
Even though i am dining at a German restaurant but pardon me for not eating German food :X.
Ordered the dory food set to try since it was on lunch set promotion smile It came with a soup and drink. the soup was pumpkin soup, like the taste for the first mouth but not the subsequent tried as the soup did not has a heavy pumpkin smell but rather more to milky creamy taste. As for the dory fill , i like the way they served with fresh tomatoes, potatoes and fish paste (i guessed) apart from the fish is quite dry, overall is actually not bad. smile

This shop's name is very unique. This is the first time i have my meal for free, because my friend wan to treeat me.

   Smiggle

This dish is quite nice. The beef is very tender, but the taste is not very suit me.
It got a bit the taste of wine.I not very like it but my friend said it is very nice.
The mee is also quite soft, and the sauce is really nice.
So i decided to change with my friends.

   Malones fish

This is what my friend ordered.
The seafood aglio olio is quite nice. The softness of the spaghetti is just right. The seafood is also very fresh and big in size.
The potato wedges is very nice,it is very crispy and not oily.
The fish is also nice.It taste great when dip with the white sauce.I dono what is it.

Erm,i dono the name of this dish.It is a bit spicy although it looks very red.
I can add more chilli to make it more spicy.tongue
This is a very special dish,Bread, onion, fish and chilli sauce. It is some kind like the tuna from tin.
The almond becomes soft because of the sauce. So it taste a bit not nice.
