Usually cuttlefish snack would be spicy or full of sugar. But this pack of cuttlefish snack from Lim Chee Guan lacks in flavor, was dry, and not much spiciness or sugar and very hard to chew also. Such a disappointing product from them. It costs me $6. Definitely not worth to buy any more snacks from them. I should try their bak kwa instead, when I patronize again! continue reading

I have been eating Lim Chee Guan bak kwa for so many years. I use to queue up for a few hours during the new year period to buy the bak kwa from the Lim Chee Guan stall in Chinatown. I will normally buy the small pieces bak kwa and they can be eaten easily. I am sad to report that the standard for the bak kwa has dropped, the bak kwa now tasted somewhat hard and tough not like it used too. continue reading

This is quite expensive and it is the most expensive bbq pork I ever had in Singapore. $60 per kg! It's sliced pork which I like - I don't like the minced pork type of bbq pork as they are too soft. This one is more like real pork. It's almost perfectly roasted and sliced of course - for that price you'll expect the best. It is however slightly too oily for my liking. This store has bbq pork all year round, which is good for people who can't wait for Chinese New Year to have bbq pork. continue reading

It used to be the best but i think it is no longer so. I bought a packet when i was in ION other day and tried it earlier. There seemed to be a significant drop in the standard. The bak kwa tasted a little harder. I wonder whether does that gotta do with their supplier, Kim Joo Guan opened their own retail stores? And i wonder whether Lim Chee Guan is still getting their supplies from Kim Joo Guan since they are in direct competition now?The current price is $21.00 for a 500 grams of those small pieces of bak kwa and a rise in pricing is to be anticipated since Chinese New Year is just around the corner. That is the reason why i do not usually buy bak kwa during the Chinese New Year. I seriously do not believe in queuing long hours and paying extra for the same quality and quantity of bak kwa. Are you a fan of Lim Chee Guan's bak kwa? If you are a fan too, have you eaten it recently? And, what is your opinion on their standard? Is it still as good or there is a drop? continue reading

I am really blessed to able to have the infamous Lim Chee Guan bak kwa this year too without queueing for it! My friend bought me one box as CNY gift this year. I am so so happy to receive Lim Chee Guan bak kwa. I always wanted to try and buy myself, but really have no time and patience to queue for the bak kwa, i gave up queuing a few years back after queuing awhile. So i am really very delighted to have the bak kwa this year.Of cos, there must be a reason why there is such a long queue everytime during CNY even though their bwa kwa is more expensive. Their bak kwa is really tasty! Their texture is very tender. Think they are using lean meat for their bak kwa, thats why is so tender and easy to chew, ideal for old people and children. Infact, my father bought a box of bak kwa from Bee Cheng Hiang from their factory located at Tuas, its really taste so different after u ate those infamous bak kwa. I find that their meat is so hard and tough, so difficult to bite and chew. I wonder is it bcos my expectation has gone up after i trying those infamous bak kwa. But my dad agree with me after he tried 'my' bak kwa. He didnt touch the bak kwa he bought afer that. haha. continue reading
