Celebrate Bluefin Tuna Festival with Itacho's New Outlet
2013-09-16
Substituting superstitions with celebrations, this Friday the 13th saw Japanese restaurant ITACHO launching their new relocated outlet at Basement 3 of ION Orchard, commemorating the auspicious occasion with a momentous “Bluefin Tuna Festival” featuring a giant Bluefin tuna cutting ceremony, followed by an illustrious cultural Japanese Taiko drumming performance.

When we say giant,we mean giant. At a whopping 120kg, the massive yet delicate Bluefin tuna fish was skillfully filleted by master chefs. First into tuna blocks, then into prized cuts for a selection of premium slices – the rare demonstration was eagerly watched upon by the media and shoppers alike. Valued for its tender red meat, the wild Bluefin tuna is a must-try for those who adore sushi. Especially “o-toro”, probably the best slivers of fatty Bluefin you can ever get, decked at premium prices measured upon its robust taste, smooth texture and rich flavor.

Some 200 people were fortunate enough to taste the freshly portioned blue fin tuna sushi whilst catching a glimpse or two of guest celebrity Edmund Chen, who not only graced the occasion but also drew and presented a Koi portrait with a heartfelt congratulatory message to ITACHO as well.

We decided to host a giant tuna fish cutting ceremony to signify an auspicious start to our new outlet at ION and also to usher the opening of our seventh outlet at the soon-to-be opened Bedok Mall in the middle of November this year. -- Mr Chris Hung, General Manager of ITACHO Singapore.
