Besides new cafes and bars taking over Duxton, old and gold charms like Jing Hua Restaurant remain, giving you another reason to return to the area. Aside from coffee.
In fact, the home-grown brand has held its ground in this hip neighbourhood for over two decades, priding themselves on their delicious dumplings and celebrates their 25th anniversary this year.
Must-try dishes
Without a doubt, their homemade dumplings, based on a family recipe that took years to perfect, are a standout here.
The best seller, Little Juicy Steamed Meat Dumplings ($7++ for seven dumplings) contains a melt-in-your-mouth pork filling, proportioned perfectly to the amount of soup and skin.
But what we liked even more were the Pan-fried Mixed Seafood and Pork Dumplings ($8++ for 10 dumplings). Bearing a close resemblance to 'pigs in a blanket', the seafood and pork filling is surprisingly yet satisfyingly juicy.
Dumplings aside
The restaurant also serves Zha Jiang Mian ($5++) with a lighter than usual soybean paste and a Chinese Pizza ($10++) – a crispy and savoury pancake with minced pork and chives that’s a meal on its own.
Save some stomach space for the Crispy Red Bean Pancake ($10++), prepared a la minute, where its sweet flavours are best enjoyed whilst it’s still piping hot.
