Christmas is a period steeped with traditions; and of course, one of these is the one of giving. Along with the usual tradition of , you can also consider giving back to society, in the form of giving to charity. Aside from a donation, there are many ways that you can help a charity out, such as volunteering your time at a charity or donating your used items to them.
The Association for Persons with Special Needs is an organisation that is looking to help develop individuals with special needs to their fullest potential and they would love for more volunteers to help out in the daily operations of the school and other miscellaneous activities such as field trips. Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore tries to champion and provide equal opportunities for children with intellectual disabilities by trying to empower them as well as promote their interests and causes towards society. You can consider helping them out with their programmes and activities; alternatively you can offer to teach the children your skills, such as painting or playing musical instruments. Singapore Children's Society was created a long time ago to help protect and nurture children in need, especially those who have been abused, neglected or from dysfunctional families. Volunteer your time to the society by becoming an academic coach; assisting the coordinators to plan and execute programmes; or even become role models for the children. Singapore Association for the Deaf tries to help the deaf achieve a better quality of living and help them to integrate into society as well as to contribute productively towards society. You can volunteer to help promote public awareness about the deaf as well as help to clear up misconceptions by the public. You can also help to do translations or even fundraising as well. St. Andrew's Mission Hospital is a voluntary welfare hospital that provides health and social care to the disadvantaged and underserved. As they are a non-profit organisation, you can help them primarily through giving a donation to them, and also helping them through fund-raiser activities.
