We were recently invited to Blackbird Bistro + Bar to try out their new SG50 cocktails as well as a few selected sides from their bar menu. Here are some highlights: The first cocktail served was the Milo Party ($18) – just imagine a Milo Dinosaur infused with spice rum, citrus and egg white. Fans of Milo should enjoy this concoction as its taste and scent would undoubtedly bring back nostalgic childhood memories, now just with an added jolt of alcohol. The comforting Cheng Tng ($18), tasted like our well-loved familiar dessert but with a hint of rum. Other cocktails include a rum-infused Kopi Peng with hazelnut and egg white and Straits Time, which contains orchid vanilla infused vodka, love letters and toasted coconut flakes and the Singapore Sling. A great bar snack to pair with those cocktails, is the Tuscany Pizza ($12), which comprises squid-ink dough topped with tomato and pesto sauce, parma ham, mozzarella, rocket salad and balsamic dressing. The crust was perfect, the sauce was on-point, and all the flavours of the pizza balanced out nicely.
The Mini Southern Burger ($12) featured mini charboiled chicken thigh patty sitting between two charcoal buns freshly made from the kitchen.
