Though we have so many gyoza places in Singapore, only a few can really claim that they are authentic. So, if you’re sick and tired of searching for the best gyoza in town, then we’d like to introduce you to Osaka Ohsho, Japan’s gyoza specialist since 1969.
Osaka Ohsho is situated in one of Singapore's most prominent malls located in the city centre
Just recently, it opened its very first outlet in Singapore. Tucked inside Raffles City’s basement, Osaka Ohsho offers diners with handmade gyozas, plus a whole lot more Japanese and Chuka (Chinese) dishes.
Their most famous item on the menu--Gyoza
For starters, have their most famous item on the menu, Gyoza ($7.80 for 12 pieces). What makes their version different from the rest is the skin, which is made from thin wanton skin prepared fresh daily with Japanese flour. Its filling is made of tender pork shoulder, leg cuts, cabbage, garlic, and ginger.
Fried chicken with Negi sauce and Ban Ban Chicken
Osaka Ohsho has grown to be more than a dumpling specialist by including Japanese and Chinese favourites. One of these is the BanBan Chicken ($5.90) which is a cold appetiser made of steamed chicken. For that additional kick in its simple taste, sesame sauce is drizzled on top. Pretty sure, this won’t be enough to satisfy you so other must-try items are the Fried Chicken with Negi Sauce ($5.90), Mabo Tofu ($7.90), and the Sweet and Sour Pork ($10.90).
Fuwatoro Tenshin Han
For those who want to enjoy Japanese favourites, fret not for they have substantial offerings such as the Pork Cutlet Toji ($10.90), Saba Miso ($10.90), Tofu Hamburger Stew ($8.90), and the Fuwatoro Tenshin Han ($9.90). The latter is perfect for the big eaters for aside from its big serving size, it’s made with fluffy omelette and steamed Japanese rice. There are many more dishes diners can look forward to when they dine at Osaka Ohsho. So, if you get the time, do visit their outlet at Raffles City and know how authentic gyozas taste like!
