Revisiting this place after a long break. No great changes to the menu with a few items added.HK Milk Tea 特制香港奶茶 (S$3.20)The usual Hong Kong milk tea. Taste good but no wow factor.Sour Plum Coke 话梅可乐 (S$4.90)Coke with a twist. Simply love how the sour plum blends into the coke making this less gassy and yet no sour taste of the plum.Soft Boiled Eggs 半生熟鸡蛋 (S$2.50)Runny eggs! Ordinary food is no longer ordinary in a restaurant like Xin Wang (new and prosperous, in English). With a great environment like Xin Wang, one won't be surprised to find many insurance agents and businessmen negotiating their deals over there. :)Radish Cake - $4.90Crispy on the outside, chewy in the inside. I had the Papaya Soup Pork Chop Noodles in Xin Wang. This dish has always been my favorite because I love the soup a lot. If I am not wrong it is simmered and boiled with big pork bones using some hidden recipe to achieve the tasty taste! I got addicted to the soup and will always finish off the whole bowl of soup. The noodles in this dish are the wonton mee noodles and often it is cooked perfectly with the bouncy kind of texture. The curry tasted very nice and the flavors have remarkable depth. Most of the time, I will order their curry chicken set, it serve in rice or bread.I like their Ice Yin Yang drink, the taste was quite different compare to the outside coffee shop. The restaurant is located at the outside of the Tiong Bahru Plaza near to Burger King and you should be able to find it using the signboard quite easily.The seat are spacious and is a good place for gathering and having a supper if you are hungry at night. There are not much crowd when I am at the place so we are able to get a table to seat on and attended by the staff efficiently. (Not sure if it is the same if there are a lot of people during that time.)Staff are very friendly and the food served are very fast too.This is a hot dessert where they take out the meat of the coconut, using the coconut itself to hold a hot coconut juice with sago and some meat of the tender coconut.In term of taste wise, it felt like I am eating cream of coconut where the meat is not very nice as it is cooked (would prefer fresh coconut to this version)Also, it would feel very sinful to eat this for girls and if you really wanna eat, 2 to 3 person per 1 coconut will doA slice of can pineapple is being added to the famous HongKong Bo Lo Bao with a small piece of thick butter.This is a refreshing taste with a pineapple in the bun. Grab a plate of stir-fried seafood noodles with prawns! This is higly recommended, as well as their yuan yang. Costing about $8-12 (forgot the price), the noodles are soft and the prawns are crunchy and fresh. Great sauce that goes along with it :)The curry is not too bad, taste quite localized, the chicken is not frozen and the potatoes taste like they're from Thailand though. i don't know if you can find them sold this way in hong Kong, i kind of expected more dim sum but it's concept is so similar to xin wang taiwan cafe that i don't know whether they're heading in the right direction or not. :(…Read More

Had some snack while waiting for my friend to come, so I ordered the French fries and the portion was huge! The sauce given is nice, I couldn't tell what sauce is that but it tasted nice with the fries. When my friend comes, we ordered a plate of rice to share. It was past midnight and we didn't know where else to chill out since some friend just arrived at 11.50pm. Xin Wang at Tiong Bahru plaza closes at 4am so we decided to go there. Surprisingly, it was still crowded at 12am. The only seats left for us was on the outside which we were not really keen. The manager was nice enough to let us sit on the outside and informed us when there was a seat inside. We wanted the aircon.I ordered teh-o just so that I can be kept awake while the chatting is going on. ($1.50)We wanted to order the giant beancurd but it was out of stock. So the crew suggested that we order the small one instead. She said that if we wanted the big one, they can make it on the spot for us but the waiting time would be about 45 mins. We didn't want to wait and opted for the small one instead. Quite smooth. The sugar syrup was really sweet! Towards the bottom of the bowl. This was a rather new Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe at Tiong Bahru plaza. Was here with a friend, trying out this new cafe. The decor of the cafe looked rather nice so was attracted to try out this new place.I wasnt feeling too well, so had ordered a pi dan pork porridge, while my friend ordered a Japanese style seafood soba. Hmm, I felt really dissapointed with my porridge. The porridge dont taste really fresh, it tasted like those porridge that was prepared the day before, which tasted a bit sour. :(I tried my friend's Japanese noodle. It dont taste so right too. The food are surprisingly better than average ~ The pan-fried XO sauce carrot cake has a crispy exterior but soft within. Sambal seafood fried rice is a slightly too oily but has a shiok sambal taste. Fish porridge is well cooked and is generous with ingredients.Having said the above, the cafe need to fix its ventilation urgently.
