This is one of the best yong tau foo I have tried although I still prefer the ampang yong tau foo! At $5.30, it is worth the money and taste! The mushroom sauce (with some minced meat in it) is recommended. The sauce was drizzled over a bowl of rough bee hoon and it was so yummy! The YTF here tasted really heavenly with the gravy as it matches the fried ingredients perfectly. The standards of Fu Lin Fried Yong To Fu has been well kept throughout. I love to eat YTF so came across this fulin in Katong Mall food republic I remembered that they have a shop near to Siglap Centre and this is the first time I am trying it. Good news is that their sauce was mushroom and minced chicken sauce ... usually people will use pork instead of chicken well is a good news for me cos I dun take pork. I simply love the idea of having fried YTF cos soupy one can be found anywhere. Must apologize i missed out the food photo though I had everything else. The highlight of this stall is that no pork is used in its sauce, which is actually mushroom-based. Trying to imitate the ampang style, the yong tau foo pieces are deep-fried again and served with the starchy mushroom sauce on top. I ordered a 10 piece set with rice which added up to $9.50. SAFRA card members are entitled to 10% discount so I paid $8.55 in the end. It is definitely less flavorful than ampang style but I like that the yong tau foo is fried again as it makes them crispy to eat. We have eaten Fu lin countless of times. What is the attraction for us would be the sauce! We were quite happy that they are not at this food court as it 's quite near to our estate. Fu lin is unlike the conventional kind of yong tou fu. After choosing your items, they will proceed to deep fry them except for the veggie , and will load it up with generous serving of gravy! By the way, this food court is the one nicely decorated with a wooden horse sculpture in the middle of the food court. My YTH selection came up to be $7.80, was served a plate of YTH which some of the items were deep fried again before covering the ingredients with bean paste like sauce. On top of this i ordered a small bowl of noodles and the same sauce was used as well. It reminds one of the ampang YTH style from sembawang. But i was quite disappointed with its plain taste, almost to the extent of being bland. I had to add in the YTH sweet sauce to bring out a bit of flavor. This stall's yong tau foo is abit different from most of the other yong tau foo stalls around us as they used thick light sauce gravy instead of the usual sweet reddish sauce to spread on their yong tau foo items. Most of the items use their handmade tofu skin which the texture is really soft and smooth. The deep fried green whole chilli is also quite crispy and the fish paste used in it is also chewy and full of the natural sweetness from the fish meat used in making the fish paste. Normally Yong Tou Fu Foo stall will use normal been hoon, rice noodle and thick yellow noodles to cook this dish. However here at Fu Lin, they actually used hand made thick rice noodles to go along with their yong tau foo. The taste was not alright and the thick dark gravy which are topped on the noodles are really thick and juicy. The minced meat used is also tender and soft, very chewable.
