With more and more Japanese Cuisine appearing in the Food Industries of Singapore, having a delicious bowl of Ramen in Singapore will not cost you much hassle to travel as most of the malls are likely to sell them. Take for example in Jurong and in line with the upcoming CBD plannings, food is no longer a concern. In fact, there have been alot more varieties and consumers are just simply spoilt for choices.Frankly, ever since Westgate had opened, this was my first visit to Menya Musashi there beside having tried once in Bouna Vista and didnt have much impression about it.The ramen were mainly group into 3 category, white, black and red where white consists of the original pork soup base, black with garlic oil and red featuring its spiciness. The IT Savvy users can straight away place their order via the IPad chained to the table and shortly after a while, a stuff will come placing an ordering slip on your table.Menya Musashi took additional steps towards servicing of customers by offering paper bibs on request, so do approach their staff for further assistance.Do you Need? The hungry or ramen craving patrons may want to try out Tsukemen where free upsize is available up to 5x of its original version. With 2x at 240g, 3x at 360g, 4x at 480g and 5x at 600g.Besides the 3 category of broth, you can also choose tomato broth for your Tsukemen. The style of having Tsukemen is different as it requires additional step of dipping noodles into the additional bowl of soup. Texture of Ramen were soft and ingredients were nothing out of the normal with spring onions, bambo shoots, onsen egg. However the pieces of Cha Shu did left some impression. The edges of each piece of Char Siew was served charred and lend a crispy bite leaving the interior meat being soft and tender.Having the White Original Tonkotsu soup (Pork Soup Base) with recommendations of their Yakibuta Ramen was filling. Ingredients of Ramen comes with seaweed, egg, bamboo shoots, spring onions and a fantastic slab of Yakibuta. Pork was coated with sweet marinate, roasted and cut into cubes. You can even feel the wobbly texture formed up by the layers of roasted meat. Soup tasted on a salty side and was not really in my flavour.Read More

Was there for a visit and saw this resturant at entrance. Easy location as ads at side of large enough to be view at distance. The review of not bad, so order 2 raman set. Mala Ramen and Tantan ramen set serve with cuttle fish and fried chicken. There is also free tea on the house free so. Enviroment is quite good as lunch time is almost full today. The taste of ramen arrivel as I try the spicy ramen, quite salty and it is not really chiili like feel as to more of numbness in the mouth.. Ha.Both ramen is slightly salty to my personal opinion. Cuttle fish and fried chicken is normal standard and nothing to shout about. The waiter is very nice to always make noisy to serve every customer, I like his attitude, Keep it up.Read More

This restaurant serves a variety of japanese food with reasonable prices. They had free flow of cold/hot green tea & complimentary hard boiled eggs for customers. We tried their Tsukemen this round for lunch. There are 4 types of soup base to choose from - orginal, black, spicy or tomato. There are also free upsize of noodles from 2x up to 5x for those super hungry ones. We ordered a orginal & black soup base Tsukemen. The taste was quite good but we find the soup not hot at all, just lukewarm & turns cold very fast due to the powerful airconditioning. The Cha Shu was very tender & flavourful, thumbs up for that. We will definitely go back to try their other ramens/dishes.Read More

It was my first time having Ramen at this restaurant. Their ordering system is different from the traditional way whereby this restaurant uses tablet. After looking through the menu, the ramen comes in 3 different soup base which include the white, black, as well as the spicy flavour. I ordered a bowl of the black tonkotsu ramen for lunch. First of all, the soup base is well brewed and seasoned, not too salty nor bland but is slightly too oily. As for the ramen itself, it is sufficiently cooked, soft and slight chewy texture. This bowl of ramen also come with two pieces of deep fry Tao kee which has a nice aroma. Next the Cha shu is not pipping hot when serve but is well seasoned with pepper and salt. The Cha shu itself has a very tender texture and the belly fat is not too thick. Lastly the ramen egg is well cooked, has a soft and slight runny egg yolk and a nicely cooked egg white. Overall, still quite a good bowl of ramen and price starts from $13.90 onwards.Read More

Tried the following for my family of 4 :Black Duck Set $16.90Salmon Rice Set $14.90Special White Set $14.90White Cha Set $15.90Read reviews about the broth, with descriptions like 'creamy ... thick ... rich ...". So I have been wanting to try it; however, I must say that I am disappointed. Broth is diluted & oily. None of the robustness that should come come hours of boiling pork bones, except the oil. The noodle is springy & a little hard. The broth makes or breaks a good ramen. I'll not be back again.Read More

What do you do when you have been nursing a ramen craving for three weeks? I'm quite surprised I could even tahan for so long without running to the nearest decent ramen place immediately. Well, this was the end of the straw... I find myself at Menya Musashi Kodou for a quick ramen fix.My white tonkotsu ramen! T__T So good, but only because I haven't seen it for so long. It definitely is pretty far off from the best, with two pointers which can be improved: ramen broth was too salty by any standards (even though I'm not drinking it on its own), and the egg is slightly overcooked (the gooey egg yolk is only on the surface). The ramen broth had a hint of dried fish flavour and not seaweed - I guess that's why it could be naturally saltier than other ramen. But the pork belly is by far one of the better ones!!! It is the melt-in-your-mouth quality and tears delicately as I divide them into half with my chopsticks for graceful eating. The ramen noodles were springy and have mini grooves in them which contained some of the ramen broth - making the noodles really flavourful as well! The other ramen places I've been don't use such interesting ramen noodles.Ramen + choice of side (gyoza/ california maki/ many other options I can't remember, but these are my favourite) = $14.90++ for a set! The sides were in all honesty, very normal, but it's pretty value-for-money when you order as a set because chances are, one bowl of ramen is not going to make you full. At least for me.The black tonkotsu ramen was heavily accented with a garlic taste which I didn't like (but lucky I didn't order this, heh). Go ahead if you like it that way.Special mention to their awesome service - I've been complaining about awful service for too long that I'm starting to appreciate really good ones. Given that there were more service staff than customers, all of them remained very attentive at Menya Musashi Kodou - from the manager to the learning staff (as monitored by the manager) to the guy manning the cashier, there was not a moment that we needed to call for their attention. They even offered papery bibs for customers to prevent ramen splatters from staining our clothes. So much attention for detail. I'm already impressed and I know where to go if I needed a quick ramen fix again.Follow my food adventures: http://spherepiece.blogspot.sg/2014/04/food-feat-menya-musashi-kodou-westgate.htmlRead More

This was my first time dining in this new ramen restaurant. This restaurant offers noodles in a variety of different textures and a selection of soup bases which comes in comes in white, red and black versions. Basically, the white is the original broth, the red is spicy and the black is garlic and spicy. As this was my first time trying out the ramen, i decided to go with their signature dish: White tonkotsu Ramen which is made of the white broth, pork belly, egg and some vegetables. The noodles are really unique and the broth tasted nice too! This dish cost $16.90. My friends tried the red and black broth ramen. The red broth ramen was quite oily, while the black one was filled with garlic flavour. Read More

When an outlet opened at Westgate, I decided to try it out since I have heard quite good reviews about it and I am eager to taste it for myself if it is really that good. I decide to try the more uncommon ramen, the Tsukumen or dipping ramen. There are three different soups, I chose the red which is the spicy soup. The noodles at Menya Musashi are very thick, almost like udon noodles. Personally, I dislike thick noodles so I would have liked it if they had different noodle variants for customers to choose from. That said, as the soup or dipping sauce is thick and flavourful, it is complementary to the thick noodles as the flavour and taste is just right when I dip some of the strands into the dip. If you want a stronger taste, you can dip the entire strand of noodles into the dip. The red sauce is actually not spicy in my opinion, though it is flavourful and tasty. However, it is quite disappointing since I am a fan of spicy food and I was expecting it to be spicy since there are two other soups which are non-spicy. In all, I found Menya Musashi is not really my kind of ramen place because of the thick noodles. Also, I felt a little let down by the red soup. I will probably try out other ramen places next time. During the last weekend, Menya Musashi Kodou at Westgate was having a promotion, 50% discount for their Ramen. Hence, my friend and I decided to go there to have dinner.I order the White Cha Siew Tsuke at $7.45 (after 50% discount). The order came very fast within 5 minutes of order. I wonder if they had pre-cooked all the dishes. The broth and the noodles were put separately on different bowls. The broth was thick, salty and had dried fish-based taste. The noodles according to the menu was H-shaped, but it looked like just 2 strings of noodle stick together. The noodles were springy and chewy. The char siew was different from the rest of the ramen stores. The meat was grilled and tasted of heavy black pepper. The meat was fatty and soft to chew on. It reminded me of Cold Storage BBQ pepper pork. Overall, the White Cha Siew Tsuke tasted above average. The prices after discount was also affordable.Read More

It is easy to locate the newest Menya outlet : it is just next to the link bridge from JEM to Westgate. A more pleasant and spacious environment than the nearest other Menya outlet at Star Vista two MRT stations away. Fully aircon, tables reasonably spaced apart, tablets at every table for easy DIY ordering and friendly prompt service from the crew of Filipino and Malaysian staff. I had the tsukumen ramen $14.90++ while my diningcompanion had the chashu tonkotsu ramen $13.90++. Menya allows diners to upsize their ramen up to 5x free of charge but requests for extra soup is billable. The basic 120gm portion of ramen sufficed for us. The soup was heavy and robust and a tad too greasy for our liking. The original/white soup was hearty and flavourful. Best as a soup base for the ramen but too runny as a gravy or dip for the tsukumen ramen. The black garlic soup was concentrated and reeked heavily of garlic - not for the faint hearted. We did not try the red or spicy soup. Each serving of ramen is served with a ling strip of marbled chashu, half of the tiniest lava egg we had seen in Sg and sliced bamboo shoots. Tsukumen ramen was ok but not impressive. Tonkotsu ramen fared better - it had additional topping of shredded black fungus and a strip of deep fried beancurd skin to dip into and soak up the soup. Pity the beancurd skin was not freshly fried and was soggy of being crispy.Read More
