Was helping out my friend at the bedok point’s weekend flea market that she runs a stall at for fun. I couldn’t resist the smell of fried chicken as it keeps luring me to its source. We ordered Ayam Penyet, Udang Penyet, Tahu TelokThis place is quite spacious with plenty of seats, and friendly, attentive servers.Udang Penyet – This was one of the first times I ordered prawns from indonesian cuisine cooking style, felt it was abit overcooked so it's abit tough and dry , I am guessing it’s a norm because everything here is mainly deepfried.Ayam Penyet – This classic chicken dish lives up to its standard as it is crispy and flavourful, meat was a little dry, but not so anymore after you dip in spicy chilli and then down it with lots of water to try suppress the spiciness! The generous portion of crunchy crumbs mixed well with the rice.Tahu telok – it looked nice and appealing with the topping etc, but when I bite into it without the peanut sauce, I probably got an unpleasant surprise of oozing oil that was not drained properly and hidden within. Bleahk.I had to squeeze dry first before re-dipping with the sauce. continue reading

Had dinner with my friend last week. It has been a while since we last met. So, we decided to have dinner at Bedok Point. We were thinking what to have dinner and finally settled with indonesian cuisine for the night. There wasn’t queue so we managed to secure a seat immediately. We were given a menu and the order list to tick on the orders before proceeding to the cash counter. Once we paid for the orders, the service staff will then serve us the foods within 15 minutes time.Gado-gado (in Indonesian or Betawi language) @S$5.50 is an Indonesian salad consisting of boiled vegetables served with a peanut sauce dressing. The fresh and raw vegetables are covered with peanut sauce. The salad paste reminds me of the one that I had during my trip to Bandung.Jamui Enoki- Fried Enoki Mushroom @S$4.20 is one of the ala-carte that we ordered. Nicely fried and cripsy while it is served hot. It can be addictive too.As for the main course, we ordered ayam penyet set @S$7.40/set which comes with a quarter fried smashed chicken with bits of fritters, beancurd, tempe (fermented soybean) and plain white rice. The marinated chicken was tender and cripsy and taste awesome with the sambal belacan.Bawal Penyet (Smashed Promfret) @S$8.30/set which comes with the promfret fish, beancurd and plain white rice. We did not enjoyed the fish as we don’t think it taste fresh. So it was left untouched after few tries. Total cost was S$31.40 which includes a glass of barley @S$2.05 , hot tea @S$1.90 and 7% GST. continue reading

Walk past this restaurant very often whenever I visit Bedok Point. The restaurant is usually quite crowded during dinner time. We decided to try the food here since it was quite empty that day. We were given the menu and a order form. Select your choice of food and bring the order form to the cashier and make payment. They accept Cash only. Food was served very quickly within 5 mins.Ayam Penyet + Rice Set $6.90 - Crispy and tasty on the outside. Chicken meat is tough and dry. The chilly is nice but quite spicy.Tahu Telur $5.90 - Small pcs of beancurd stacked in a tower and deep fried with egg. Usually tahu telur is served with kechap manis sauce but here they used peanut sauce. They did not drain the oil well thus it was very oily, towards the end I was eating eggs soaked in oil. Jamur Enoki $3.90 - Deep fried battered enoki mushrooms. Oily and soggy.Kerupuk Udang /Emping $1.50 - The only food which I enjoyed most in this restaurant.Total bill for the 4 dishes without drinks - $19.50 including 7% GST continue reading
