When it comes to italian food, the first 2 dishes that come to my mind are pizza and pasta! Thanks to Openrice and I was treated to a variety of italian dishes during their ORTU. When you first entered the premise, you will be charmed by the nicely-decorated ambience and shelves of wine for you to choose from. I would like to stress on their delicious pizza as they come in THIN-CRUST unlike other big pizza company. I love their cheese pizza that comes with anchovies! The taste is unique and awesome and I can assure you that you will not be able to find any similar taste from other pizza companies.Second on my list is the tiger prawn with scallop pasta. The ingredients are fresh and the taste of the dish turns out to be just nice (Not too strong or too bland). Last but not least for desert, We had tiramisu cake and molten chocolate cake. They are so yummy! I like the experience when the waiter lit the torch and burnt the top layer of the chocolate cake and the "burnt" cake simply melts in my mouth.I strongly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a quiet and cozy environment to have a romantic dinner with your loved ones =P continue reading

My first impression of Borgata, a quiet and cozy little Italian restaurant with warm lights, a cozy feel (okay, I didn’t spot the bar counter until much later), hidden along the happening bar-filled walkways of Clarke Quay. The restaurant manager recommended the usual favorites of starters, pizzas and pastas, which includes a customized / unique pasta by Chef Andrea, just for us Borgata’s Stracciata truly got me drooling and wanting more, thinly sliced meat with loads of herbs and Parmesan cheese on a bed of salad and truffle oil… *yums*As for pizza and pasta, it’ll be the Napoletana (anchovies on thin crust pizza), Spaghetti Alle Vongole (spaghetti with clams in white wine sauce) and the customized pasta (tiger prawns and scallops pasta), though dishes are slightly stronger in taste but left a lasting yummy impression. And the desserts were lava cake and tiramisu. The lava cake or molten chocolate cake, after being set on fire by the waiter, was simply creamy and divine for chocolate lovers. As for their tiramisu, there was a hint of orange in the soaked savoiardi as Cointreau was used (not the usual version I’m used to) and a layer of crunchy bits, which tasted like biscuits. Although I was looking forward to traditional tiramisu, Borgata’s version was pleasant and a refreshing change.A nice choice for a date and / or a quiet dinner with friends, to catch up and enjoy lovely Italian food. Not to forget, a big thank you to OpenRice and Borgata, for the invite and chance to experience Italian cuisine continue reading

Thank you OpenRice for ORTU to Borgata, I enjoyed the meal. For those who do not know, Borgata is a very homely Italian restaurant located at the stretch of Clarke Quay's bars and clubs along River Valley Road. I was quite pleasantly surprised to find this restaurant to be so homely in such rowdy environment. The interior is sweetly decorated and the staff are friendly. The different pastas and pizzas that were served to us were awesome and I especially love the latter! Psst, I have a fetish on thin-crust pizza so if you like thin-crust too, go try their pizzas! However, I think the most special thing about this particular restaurant is they take special orders and make an unique pasta/pizza right for you! Ain't it cool? Not many places offer this skill and I really felt very important when I saw the specially made dishes for us OpenRicers. By the way, I love their desserts: molten chocolate cake and tiramisu. THE TIRAMISU IS ESPECIALLY QUIRKY! It was the most cool tiramisu that I ever tasted, with a tad of orange taste and crunchy nuts that added to the layer of taste. Oh, and look at the molten chocolate! The waiter will just set the fire on it and let it burn. The burnt crust taste especially good with hot chocolate cake. Yum yum! I like! (P/S: I have a thing with desserts. Heehee) continue reading

Italian Cuisine, simply Italian, absolutely marvelous and delicious. A big thank you to OpenRice Singapore and Borgata Trattoria Osteria, I was invited to a wonderful event known as Open Rice Tasty Union (ORTU). Italian cuisine is famous for its pizzas and pasta, they have a great reputation and admiration around the world, however, there are other Italian cuisine that are just as tasty and delicious !The ambience and design of Borgata was nice, enjoyed the dining experience, we had tasted some great starters, loved the pizzas and pasta and thanks to Borgata, Chef Andrea specially prepared a unique and absolutely delicious pasta with king prawns for this ORTU event !Italian pizzas that we had were all thin crust, however, it is very filling even though we shared the pizzas among us ! Add the pasta and it made us really full ! However, we still can squeeze out some space when the desserts arrived ! How can you resist when non of us there at ORTU can resist !If you a fan of Italian food especially pizzas and pastas, look no further, visit Borgata for a Simply Italian Experience ! continue reading
