Would you ever think of eating Western Food?

Here in Botejyu, they sells Western food with a touch of Japanese, rice and miso soup included.

I had ordered this Beef Steak Rice Hot Plate.

Like the normal hotplate western food, the dish came sizzling with sauces and oil. You would need a tissue to take cover, else the oil will sizzlers at you.

The beef meat was sliced into smaller pieces, maybe suitable to eat with rice without using a knife to cut.

The beef meat was a little tough and chewy though, maybe on the hot plate over-cookedand not so much of beef taste.

The sauce on the beef was quite ok, tasted of some black pepper and teriyaki.

Overall, I would still prefer to order Japanese fare than other western fare if I was to dine in again.

Ordered the Fried Rice with Garlic Chicken ($7.90++) from Botejyu's lunch menu which was a big portion served on a sizzling plate. The fried rice was very tasty with lots of ingredients. The chicken had been marinated in ginger juice and was moist and flavourful, coated in a tonkatsu-like sauce with only a mild taste of garlic. No worries about reeking of garlic breath after having this dish for lunch. Portions here are big: two main courses are adequate for sharing among three persons. However

However, service is excrutiatingly slow as there was only one waitress on duty when we had lunch on a weekday.

Botejyu San is a Japanese concept restaurant which specialises in the Japanese savoury pancakes Okonomiyaki and Modanyaki. Their name Botejyu San refers to the delicious sound of a pancake being flipped and sizzling on a hot grill.

Ambience at Botejyu San is rather dull and understated, though they do offer a good view of the surrounding parks. Lights are dim, and furniture is rather cramped and dated. Botejyu San is also tucked away in a corner of the mall, and not easily spotted when passing by.

A Okonomiyaki is a traditional Japanese savoury pancake, that is made with flour, filled with your choice of ingredients, and wrapped with egg. Their Okonomiyaki With Squid, Shrimp, Scallops was grilled nicely, and the sauce art was beautifully done. The seafood was fresh, and well portioned throughout.

A slice of Seasonal Fruit Tart with 9 types of fresh fruits, and I liked the sponge cake and cream within as well. The citrus sauce didn't add much, as the fruits already provided a lot of flavour.
