For pictures and full review, pls visit: http://madamechewy.com/2015/12/12/cocoichibanya-opens-5th-outlet-at-plaza-singapura/CoCoICHIBANYA has certainly gone from strength to strength in Singapore- the largest curry restaurant chain in the world has recently opened their 5th outlet on our sunny island at Plaza Singapura. To date, the chain has a whopping 1,400 outlets worldwide!Located on level 3 in Plaza Singapura’s new wing and offering a view of Orchard Road (perfect for people watching), the restaurant has a modern bistro concept with private booth seats and plenty of natural light streaming through the windows.Currently, CoCoICHIBANYA is the only curry house in Singapore boasting such an extensive menu. With countless of curry rice and omelette rice options to choose from, diners are truly spoilt for choice. What’s more, CocoICHIBANYA offers the flexibility to customize your meal-diners can specify the portion of rice, curry spice levels as well as toppings. To whet our appetites, the tasting started with Tofu and Fried Fish Salad ($7), which comes with either Goma (sesame) dressing or Japanese Soy Sauce (Shoyu) dressing. We also sank our teeth into delicious Deep fried Chicken Gyozas ($4.20), which had the perfect ratio of crisps golden wrap and juicy chicken fillingCoCoICHIBANYA offers curry with spice levels ranging from level 1 to 5. In addition, they also cater to children and vegetarians with mild and vegetarian stock curries.Pair the versatile curries with popular crowd-favorites such as Thinly Sliced Boiled Beef ($4), Deep Fried Pork Cutlet ($4) or tender Black Pepper Grilled Chicken ($4).If you prefer something uncommon, there’s piquant Grilled Pork and Kimchi ($4) and Grilled Squid which emanates a smoky char.My top pick is the Grilled Spinach, Bacon and Corn– a tango of robust savory and sweet bursts of flavors.Desserts were nothing to shout about, but did a satisfactory job rounding up a spice laden meal as they were served either chilled or frozen. Green tea lovers can relish in the Matcha Cheese Cake ($4.80) or Single Scoop Matcha Ice Cream with Azuki beans ($3.80). My personal favorite was the Chocolate Crepe Cake ($5.50), prepared with fresh Hokkaido Milk. The premium milk makes another appearance in the Cream Puff ($5.50)- a dessert sure to be a hit with kids.Diners can count on CoCoICHIBANYA for appealing and comforting meals in a modern setting which does not hurt the wallet. continue reading

If you think Japanese curry are simply sweet and not shiok at all, think about it again!Coco Ichibanya is famous for Japanese curry, there are in total 7 level of spiciness, the lowest level being mild (not spicy at all, suitable for children), then level 0 (Standard) to level 5 (Crazy hot). This is a level 3 thin-sliced boiled beef curry, and the level of spiciness made me gulped down more rice than usual. continue reading

After making waves in Japan and other countries for 3 decades, it's finally here in Singapore! Indeed, I saw it everywhere I went in Japan!Anyway, the first CoCoICHIBANYA Curry House in Singapore is conveniently located on B3 of 313@Somerset. If you're going down from the Forever 21 escalators, turn left, it's at the corner. It is open-concept and has comfortable seating. When my friend and I were there, there weren't lotsa people around. But our orders did not come super fast either.Hot Lemon Tea - $3.50My friend ordered the Hot Lemon Tea and it was served in a teapot, very cute!Clam and Tomato Curry Omelette Rice - $14It's very nice! The clams are big, juicy and fresh! The omelette is fluffy "fuwa-fuwa"! The curry spiciness level can be customised and I chose the middle level. Great!!Kinoko (Mushroom) Omelette Rice - $13It's creamy and fluffy! The mushrooms are soft and everything goes very well together!Great to have CoCoICHIBANYA in Singapore!! ♥ continue reading

It was a nice branded Japanese-style Curries eatery, unique and interesting visit with a gang of friends. Customization to match patrons’ preference, Spiciness could be chosen from level one to level five, rice from 150g to 550g to avoid over-eating, different varieties of sauce based, and additional topping. Shown as above, mine was on level 3 moderate spiciness and 150 grams of rice. The portion was unexpected generous, part of rice was diving in curry. The broth was richly thick and savoury, very smooth and scrumptious every bite. Chicken was slightly tender with a crispy skin, potatoes and veggies bathe in curry were nice too. I wondered how the taste for spiciness level 5, I will revisit to try the tongue-burning version next round definitely. continue reading

Curry rice from this Coco Ichibanya always never fail to impress me. Especially love their egg omelette with chicken cutlet curry as the chicken cutlets are super crispy and the chicken meat is juicy and soft and not too oily. The egg omelette is quite thick and fragrant. The rice is quite big in portion, The curry gravy is thick in texture and is fragrant and not too spicy. Restaurant is comfortable and staffs here are friendly. For less than twenty dollars per meal here, is value for money. Yummy! continue reading
