We were here on Vday as everywhere is overwhelmed with crowd. To our surprise, Empire State was also crowded. We were told by the waiter that we had to wait for half hour for a seat. Nevertheless, we waited. We could not decide what to order initially. In the end, we decided to try their signature Empire burger. In fact, the service was quite bad maybe it was due to Vday. We ordered plain water but it never came. Getting hold of the waiter to order food was a long wait too. The food took 45 minutes to arrive. To our horror, the burger was tremendously huge and it was sprinkled with a whole load of friends. Immediately, my first reaction was how can 2 persons finish this plate. The beef patty was not tender and it was very difficult to swallow. I was so looking forward to the beef patty but it did not reach my expectations. The bread was too thick too. The best part of the dish was the fries as my favourite food is potato. Other than this, the burger was a major disappointment. We did not finish the dish at all and left about 40%. Overall, I would not visit Empire state again. continue reading

For details, please visit http://foodesteem.blogspot.sg/2013/11/empire-state.htmlThe monkey mascot, representing the Statue of Liberty, Empire State focus on another set of values! Cheeky monkey Their mains range from pastas to burgers and to westerns only. Of course, includes starters, sides, drinks, and desserts.Seafood Ring ($6.90) is seafood ring fried to golden color, and served with caesar dressing and cocktail sauce. Love the seafood rings, as they were fried till crispy, and chewy.Herb Roasted Maple Glazed Chicken - half ($11.90) - whole ($16.90). Chicken was prepared with maple sauce beforehand, and covered with brown sauce to add taste to it. I love their roasted chicken too, as sauce is sweet with some peppery taste and goes well with the meat. Meat is tender and juicy, while the fries are not over-fried, leaving the inside still mushy!Baked Salmon ($16.90) where fillet is baked and served with flavorful seafood sauce, mesclun salad and amshed potato. Salmon is overcooked, making the fillet a little hard. But sauce is sweet and creamy, which I love to dip with fries, mesclun salad, mashed potato, and seafood rings. Their serving portion is not stingy at all, and with the price stated, it is definitely worth it, and probably even cheaper than it should be! While the condominium is still in development behind the mall, do pay them a visit before it gets too crowded even on a weekday evening!!For details, please visit http://foodesteem.blogspot.sg/2013/11/empire-state.html continue reading

I have heard of the 4 cheese pizza which is delicious but 4 cheese pesto pasta? I was a little skeptical but being the cheese lover I am, I wondered how bad could it possibly be? Quite bad to be honest. The pesto pizza was served 20mins after I ordered it. The pasta had a light tomato flavor to it but it was not drenched in sauce which made it a little dry. the 4 cheese was just sprinkled on top and it actually looked quite pathetic. I was expecting melted cheese. They were not very generous with the tomato sauce or the cheese which made the pasta very dry when it got to the middle portion and I got sick of eating it half way through.I also ordered Root Beer which came in a huge glass, still quite overpriced being $8.50 if you ask me.Empire state looked tempting for its desserts (which I would try next time round). However I doubt I would be back for the mains. continue reading
