As I make my way up on the escalator from the basement carparks, the strong sense of herbal fragrance lingers along the passage way of Basement 1. Sniffing in the herbal fragrance given out by Cha Yeh Dan (Herbal Egg) became so unavoidable and I began my search for them between Oriental Herbal Tea shop and then Eu Yan Sang. There I had found the pot of herbal eggs raging fiercely in the slow cooker with steam evaporating at one corner in Eu Yan Sang. With everything placed on the shelves, I picked up the thongs and was ready to do my "Egg-picking" session till the staff came towards me and offered her assistance. As she picked the eggs, i can see that hairline cracks are found on the egg shell with the essence of herbal infused into the eggs giving it a sweet tasting brownish outlook. There then, she placed 2 eggs into a small transparent plastic bag followed by a small Eu Yan Sang bag with handle easier for us to carry these eggs around. These herbals eggs are extremely hot and even if I had cooled it down for sometimes, it's a challenge to remove the shells from the egg. I had tried to remove them while i was walking around the mall doing window shopping. Even though there is no hurry, I just could not resist this temptation and have to eat them on the go instead of finding a proper seating to remove them. Taaa-Daaa! Shell had been successfully removed by me despite the hotness. Considering that Eu Yan Sang is quite reputable, the cost of each herbal egg at a dollar is worthwhile especially when it herbs had immersed deeply into the egg.For those who enjoys their herbal eggs alot, we can buy a packet of ready packed Cha Yeh Dan herbs from them and prepare ourselves at home!
