Mian Mian Ju Dao is the store that sells handmade noodles like Mee Hoon kway and Ban Mian at the Food Republic at Causeway Point. They also offer a variety of noodles in addition to the usual range of Ban Mian and Mee Hoon Kway ($4.00), such as the Pumpkin Noodle Soup ($5.20) and Black Pepper Chicken Noodle ($5.50). There is also a variety of ala carte dishes such as the Fried Man Tou ($3.00) and Steamed Dumplings ($4.50 for 6 pcs). Quite a range for a small stall!I like the Pickled Vegetable wi

I like the Pickled Vegetable with Meat & Noodle Soup with either Mee Hoon Kuay or Ban Mian at this store. But this time I got the Pickled Vegetable with Meat & Noodle Soup ($5.20) with U-Mian. We also got the Set Meal 1 ($7.00) that came with a bowl of Ban Mian, a plate of 3 Fried Dumplings and a side dish. You can actually choose the side dish you want from a range they have available on that day; there were braised peanuts, sliced taupok, and taukee among several others while we were there. We opted for the braised peanuts.

The food was quite tasty and the noodles were smooth and consistently cut. The fried dumplings were a tad oily but otherwise decent. However, the dish of peanuts was cold and I wished they had heated it up a little before serving. Nevertheless, the portion, especially for the noodles, was huge and very filling. I still felt very bloated even after 2-3 hours!

Service at this store was also good. I asked for chicken meat for my noodle and the lady who served us took the initiative to notify us that the dumplings that came with the set meal contains pork. She was also patient and helpful in responding to our questions regarding the side dishes!

If you're going for the Ban Mian, I'd recommend getting the set meal since it's more value for money!

This is by far one of the worst xiao long bao I have ever eaten. I waited pretty long for them to steam it but I would be ok with the wait if the xiao long bao was good. It was not say very cheap too, six pieces for $5.50. When I got the xiao long bao, I was already disappointed by the way it appeared. Then when I put it into my mouth, I almost fainted. The skin was so THICK! Normally skilled xiao long bao chef makes the skin very thin yet it would not break when you clip it with your chopstick.

The skin was so THICK! Normally skilled xiao long bao chef makes the skin very thin yet it would not break when you clip it with your chopstick. For this one, you do not need to worry that it will break cos the skin is thick enough to prevent that. But something amazing happened, two of my xiao long bao did break, the reason was not the skin too thin but because of the thick skin, these two xiao long bao were stuck together when being steamed so when I used my chopstick to clip one, the thick skin stuck firmly to the other and finally broke. It was just so disappointing. I will not buy their xiao long bao again!
