Now in Singapore, it was not easy to find this local nonya dish, Kueh Pie Tee in hawker centre or even foodcourt.

I chanced upon this stall selling Popiah and Kueh Pie Tee at Chinatown Complex Food Centre.

This Kueh Pie Tee has a thin and crispy pastry shell with a spicy, sweet mixture of sauce, some bits of eggs and crushed roasted peanuts on top. Inside the shell there was thinly sliced braised bangkuang filled to the brim. Other stalls have put a piece of prawn inside the Kueh Pie Tee but not this one.

The taste was similar to popiah in the inside, soft, juicy and savoury braised bangkuang, only the outer skin was different from Popiah which was crispy and had a slightly more oily taste.

Honestly i did expect it to be good but it turned out to be quite a disappointment. This stall is selling their homemade popiah skins, and usually such a stall served popiah in quite a good skin. You guessed it right, the disappointment came from the skin. The skin was a little too thick and chewy to my liking. The ingredients were not as bad as the skin, but overall, it is just an average popiah. I would rather reserved my stomach for something more exciting. After eaten some of the really good

After eaten some of the really good ones, i tend to be a little more picky and selective when come to popiah.
