This newest stall in this food centre seems to be quite an interesting find. The only item available is Cheng Teng and nothing else. It reminded me of another stall at the Bedok Corner Food Centre specialised in just Cheng Teng.I decided to try it. All the ingredients have already packed in the plastic containers and displayed in 3 rows on the shelf. The Cheng Teng is available in hot and cold version. When an order is placed, the stall assistant only required to pour the longan water into the plastic container to serve. A handful of shaved ice is added to the cold version. Plastic container is used for eating there and taking away. The longan based cheng teng came with quite a lot of ingredients like barley, dried longan, white fungus, dried persimmon, lotus seeds, ginko seeds, winter melon strips, sago pearls etc. It sounded pricey at $2 per container but there are more than enough ingredients to justify the $2 worth. The level of sweetness was just right. Efforts have been made to ensure the lotus seeds and ginko seeds have been cooked well to the desired softness. The combination of dried longan, dried persimmon and barley has given it the perfect texture. A rather refreshing choice particularly for a crazy hot day. continue reading
