Chocolate VIC Caramella Affogato
Review (2)
Giovanni L.is an award-winning gelato / ice-cream parlour that was originated from Germany, and has been brought into Singapore, so that we get to enjoy delicious gelato that comes in many exotic flavours. I also dug the gold and silver cone that is their signature emblem, as well as the cherub statues perching on top of the gold-lit signboard. The were many flavours to choose from - whether you prefer something creamy, conventional, fruity or alcoholic. Classic flavours start from SGD$4.90 per scoop, and the Premium flavours cost SGD$5.90 onwards for a scoop.I loved the Classic Cone, consisting of Amarena gelato, Chocolate VIC gelato and Eggnog gelato - all three of my most favorite flavours tonight. I loved the creamy texture of the Amarena paired with zesty-ness amongst the sweetness, and of course I am a cherries fan. The Chocolate VIC comprised bittersweet notes of dark chocolate in this very rich flavour, my beloved elements all found in one scoop. And the Eggnog flavour reminds me of Christmas; the alcoholic taste here is distinctive without being overpowering. The Caramella Affogato (SGD$8.90) is a composition of crunchy pieces of caramel, crispy popcorn, vanilla gelato and espresso shot - adding bites and crunch to this creamy drink. There are 3 affogato available here, each one seemingly interesting. For full review and more detailed information, please feel free to visit:http://thearcticstar.blogspot.sg/2015/08/media-invite-ice-cream-at-giovanni-l.html continue reading

Located right next to Seattle Pike Chowder with the same management is Giovanni L., brought in directly from Germany and decorated in Singapore. It is hard to turn down a scoop of delicious and fresh gelato!Giovanni L. is owning a repertoire of 102 international ice cream varieties. Most of them are made with our own recipe. Each year 2 to 3 new flavors of ice cream will be created and several of their gelato flavours are international award winners! Here are some of my my favourite flavours, after trying almost all their flavours. They also have very westernized flavours such as Eggnog, and instead of having it just during thanksgiving, they will be serving it all year round! There were several flavours that had alcohol in them, but were no signs to indicate, the staff just had to ask if we could take alcohol. The eggnog gelato was one of them, and it was my favourite, the tinge of alcohol sweetness was just perfect with some chocolatey bit goodness. I just wish they made eggnog milk shakes out of this, then my life would be complete! The Pistachio was very rich and not as creamy as you would expect, it had a slightly rough texture which would indicate the pistachio bits embedded into the gelato. As with any ice cream parlour in Singapore, they melt fast! Especially in areas that have al fresco dining. Having a wide range of gelatos gives me a feeling they are out to fight the already concentrated gelato market. They do not offer typical flavours such as matcha or cookies and cream, but rather very specific flavours like Amorena which is a vanilla gelato with amorena cherries. It will blow your mind! Think of a super awesome raspberry ripple!Their peanut butter gelato is also superb, a simple and yet well made gelato. The bella stracciatella gelato was also one of my favourites, chocolate ice cream studded with white chocolate chunks and toasted hazelnuts! continue reading
