This is the cheapest soup on their menu. It was a peanuts pork ribs soup for only $2.60. The pork ribs, peanuts and lotus root were cooked nicely to give it a soft texture. The soup has got a full peanuts flavour. The soup tasted quite healthy with no hint of MSG in it. This is an ideal choice for a light meal or to go with the plain rice. I am interested to come back to try the others. continue reading

Browsing for idea of lunch at Tanjong Pagar hawker centre at quiet Sunday, there aren’t many stalls open, choices are limited. This soup stall looks new to me, probably they have open for few months only. The stall owner looks friendly as he smiles to me when I place my order. I just want to have something soupy with rice that day. They don’t serve many types of soup on Sunday, whereas they serve more choices on weekdays. Which means their food is under control, they won’t prepare or cook too many beforehand. In terms of freshness, it has some warranty though. I have herbal chicken soup with rice. It is wrapped with foil and plastic sheet as the container. Once the wrapper is open, steaming hot soup and ingredients are within. The soup was clear brown, hardly could trace oil as the owner has removed the chicken skin. Taste wise, I like it without msg and light, though it has a strong liquorice taste, it overpowered the rest of the ingredients. If liquorice could be less, it is a perfect bowl of soup for me. I could taste it has taken long hours to boil as chicken meat is really tender. Chicken leg was the main ingredient plus some herbs.I think I will return to try some other soups. It seems this little stall serves good old flame soups with detailed and consideration. continue reading

This stall is a good find. The cheapest on its menu is the peanuts pork ribs soup for only $2.60. That sounded like a steal particularly in a food centre in such a prime area. A little skeptical but still decided to take away a tub for dinner at home later. It was a pleasant surprise. I did not expect the soup to be so flavorful and never did i expect to find a handful of peanuts with 2 meaty pieces of pork ribs in it. The peanuts must have been boiled for a certain time for the soup to be this good. The peanuts were soft and the pork ribs were tender. i was truly amazed.I am tempted to go back soon to try the different type of soups like lotus pork ribs soup ($3.30), ginseng chicken soup ($3.80), scallop chicken soup ($3.80), herbal chicken soup ($3.80), salted vegetable duck soup ($4.20) and herbal duck soup ($4.20). They do have sesame chicken and preserved vegetable chicken at $3.50 too. Strongly recommended. continue reading
